Thanksgiving Scriptures in Psalms

The Psalms are full of thanksgiving praise. And Psalm 100 is one of the most popular Bible Verses about Thanksgiving for a reason.

It is called “A Psalm of Thanksgiving”. And in it, we learn how to praise God and acknowledge His goodness and grace.

Because we are God’s children, we can enter His gates with thanksgiving. A triumphant and confident stride into the loving presence of God Himself. And enter His courts with praise humbling ourselves with a thankful heart of worship. This is how we offer true thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father!

No doubt, you’ve faced unforeseen challenges throughout the past months. But the holiday season is the time of the year to set aside the hard times, reconnect with loved ones, and see God’s grace unfold in your life.

And nothing is more inspiring than the Psalms. They are filled with encouraging words for every situation we come across and plenty of thanksgiving for God’s love and mercy. The following psalms are some of my favorite Bible Verses on Thanksgiving. In them, we see a pattern of worship and praise for God’s goodness.

I hope they fill your heart with gratitude the way they do mine.

So, with a thankful heart, let’s praise Him together!

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

                                      Psalm 100:4 NASB

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Offer to God thanksgiving,
And pay your vows to the Most High.

That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,
And tell of all Your wondrous works.

                                  Psalm 30:4 ESV

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
    let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
    and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
    the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
    and his hands formed the dry land.

                                  Psalm 95:1-5 ESV

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
    for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
    for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
    for his steadfast love endures forever;

                                 Psalm 136:1-3 ESV

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
    and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
    to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
    at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How great are your works, O Lord!
    Your thoughts are very deep!

                                  Psalm 92:1-5 ESV

Bible Verses about Being Blessed

The old hymn tells us… count your blessings, name them one by one.

I’m sure, you have many blessings to count this Thanksgiving Day. I know I do.

God is always good to bless us with all we need and so much more.

And as I’m counting my blessings this year, I’ll be thinking of the verse below from Numbers 6:24-27.

It has always been one of my favorite scriptures because it paints a beautiful picture of God’s blessings toward us.

The meaning of the Lord make His face shine on you, is an intimate and awe-inspiring experience of God’s presence in our daily lives.

It’s seeing His smile as He looks upon us, His children. And it’s feeling indescribable peace in the face of adversity.

Lastly, it’s God offering His name as a blessing to us. And what a blessing it is to know the name of the Lord personally!

May you be blessed by these Thanksgiving blessings!

The Lord bless you
and keep you;
 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.

So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.

                                          Numbers 6:24-27

 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

                                     Proverbs 16:20

 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

                                     Psalm 34:8  New King James Version

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

                                             Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord.
 Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart—
they do no wrong
but follow his ways.

                                           Psalm 119:1-3

Prayer of Thanksgiving in the Bible

We’ve already learned to give thanks to the Lord and enter His gates and courts with thanksgiving.

But how do we accomplish that?

The answer is prayer.

Through prayer, we reach the Great Almighty day or night, rain or shine.

The attitude of prayerfulness the Apostle Paul wrote about in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is one of persistent, consistent prayer in our daily lives.

By being connected to God in prayer, Christians can rejoice in all circumstances because we know we have a direct line to God whenever we need Him.

That’s how God designed prayer to be. It’s a one-on-one relationship with the Creator of the world. And it’s available to us at all times.

So, let’s rejoice, and give thanks in everything, knowing it is God’s will for us through faith in Jesus.

May you continue earnestly in prayer, and let your requests be made known to God using one of these scriptures as a thanksgiving prayer!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

                                    1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

                                   Colossians 4:2

 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

                                    Philippians 4:6-7

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

                                     Ephesians 6:18

Sitting down at the dinner table with family and friends can be the perfect opportunity to share your faith in Jesus.

So, as you’re celebrating the glorious Thanksgiving holiday, I pray these Grateful Bible Verses for Thanksgiving will fill you with a thankful heart for all God has done and that you’ll share the love of Jesus with those gathered around the table with you!
