So, let’s jump in and discover…
How do you keep your faith strong in tough times?
The substance of our faith keeps us going in hard times.
We may not be able to see faith with our eyes, but just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t real.
We believe in gravity, yet we can’t see it. But we know that gravity is real and exists because we feel it and experience it for ourselves.
Likewise, we know our faith in Jesus is real because we feel it in our hearts and experience it in our daily lives. This is the substance of our faith and the hope that is within us. It is the reality that we have Jesus, and He has us. If we truly believe in Jesus, then we have the assurance of our faith because we “see” it in our lives. These two verses speak directly to this kind of “blind faith” and show us what exercising faith in difficult times looks like.Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Our faith is a firm place to stand when we are scared.
It’s so easy to be discouraged and feel defeated when things don’t go our way. We become scared of what tomorrow will bring and wonder if it will ever get better. But our faith in Jesus is our security and firm place to stand. When our faith is shaken, and life tries to tear us down, Jesus gives us strength and bravery. So, stand fast in the faith and be strengthened by the One who died to set us free. Run to Him and find safety and unshakable ground.
1 Corinthians 16:13
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.
The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.

To get you started here are two of my favorites. They always give me comfort and inspiration when I’m feeling knocked down. I hope they will lift you up and give you comfort as well.
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
Psalm 46:1-5; 10
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
There is no doubt that hardships will come in life, but with Jesus we have victory!
Hard times seem to sneak up and hit us out of nowhere. When we least expect them, they show up like an uninvited party guest who just won’t leave.
But the Bible tells us that we should expect hardships in this life and that we should find joy in them. I know what you’re thinking because I’m thinking it too. How can we possibly find joy in suffering?
Well, it all goes back to Jesus. He suffered for us, and He promised that we would suffer for His namesake. But we shouldn’t let it get us down. Because even though we are participants in the suffering of Christ, we are also participants in His victory too! With Jesus, our current circumstances fade away in the light of eternity. We are victorious over this world and the hardships we face! And it’s all because of Jesus and His glory!
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
1 Peter 4:12-13
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:6-9
1 Corinthians 15:57
Each of these 12 uplifting Bible verses for faith in hard times reminds us of God’s faithfulness. Yes, we face tough times in life. But God’s promises are always true. He is with us. He is for us. And He will never leave us alone in our despair. With God all things are possible. Even faith in hard times. So, take heart, the Lord is with you. Have perseverance, keep the faith and claim the victory in Jesus’ name!
