Powerful Bible Verses about Grace

What does the Bible say about grace? And what is the meaning of grace? These Powerful Bible Verses about Grace give us the answers.

Grace is a word that gets thrown around a lot in Christian circles. Theologians and other “smart people” spend countless hours debating the concept of grace. And because there are so many scriptures on grace, it’s a topic that deserves discussion. But grace is not just for theologians to debate. It’s something for every believer, not only to understand but to possess.

When I think of grace, I see in my mind a beautiful ballerina taking the stage. Her hair is pulled up in the perfect ballet bun, her organza and tulle tutu frames her body just right and her pirouette is on pointe, y’all. The way she turns and spins and jumps through the air, oh, what grace! And she is graceful! But this type of grace is different from Biblical grace.

So, what exactly is grace? Hint… it’s not the prayer we say before a meal. Although, it’s always a good idea to thank God for everything He’s given to us.

Instead, grace is God’s favor bestowed on those who believe in His Son, Jesus. It is the power of God to freely forgive our sin even though we don’t deserve it. That seems simple enough, and really it is.

So together, let’s dive deep into these powerful Bible verses about grace and answer this question…

What does the Bible say about grace? And discover the full meaning of grace in our lives.

God’s grace gives us salvation

There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. We just don’t have the power to save ourselves. But that’s okay because God has given us a way to be saved. His grace and mercy were poured out through His Son, our Savior on the cross. And these scriptures on grace attest to the fact that faith in Jesus and the free gift of grace combined are the one thing that has the power to give us salvation. Grace is yours if you choose to accept Jesus as your Savior. He is the One and only way to grace and forgiveness of sin.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

                                               Ephesians 2:8-9

who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

                                              2 Timothy 1:9

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

                                              John 1:17

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

                                             Ephesians 1:7

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

                                             Titus 3:3-7

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

                                        Ephesians 2:4-5 NKJV

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

                                      Titus 2:11-14 English Standard Version

And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

                                       Acts 4:33 ESV

And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”

                                      Matthew 19:16 ESV

For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

                                     Romans 3:20 ESV

To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

                                    Acts 10:43 ESV

God gives us grace upon grace

Thankfully, grace, God’s favor, is not a one-and-done proposition. We receive His grace continually, daily in fact. The more we need grace, the more God gives it to us.

 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”

                                            James 4:6

  And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

                                           John 1:16

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

                                          2 Corinthians 9:8

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!

                                   Romans 11:33 NLT

But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

                                  Ephesians 4:7 English Standard Version

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

                                 1 Peter 4:10 NIV

For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

                                 Romans 5:17 ESV

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Jesus said My grace is sufficient for you

What power does grace give us?

We all know hard times will surely come our way. And we may feel weak and powerless when they do. But Jesus told us My grace is sufficient for you, It’s His grace that gives us strength and power to continue on. As the children’s hymn, Jesus Loves Me, says, “They are weak, but He is strong.”

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

                                            2 Corinthians 12:9

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

                                          Hebrews 4:16

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

                                        1 Peter 5:10

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

                                 Hebrews 4:16 ESV

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

                                2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

                                 Acts 20:32 NKJV

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

                                2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV

We can grow in grace and watch it blossom in our lives

God’s grace is given to us the minute we know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. And there’s nothing that can take grace away from us. But each day that we live with Jesus, we learn more about Him and His character. We go deeper into grace, grow in it, and learn more from it. Grace takes root in our hearts and we see it blossom in our lives. As we see in these Bible verses about grace it simply becomes a part of who we are as believers.

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

                                           2 Peter 3:18

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

                                           Titus 2:11-14

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord…

                                          2 Peter 1:2

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

                                 2 Peter 3:18 ESV

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

Amazing Grace Bible Verse

We all know the hymn Amazing Grace. It’s one of the most popular songs in history. But are the words of this hymn found in the holy scriptures?

The New Testament is full of scriptures about God’s grace. But there’s one verse that must have served as an inspiration for this great hymn.

Both Ephesians 2:8-9 and the lyrics of Amazing Grace tell us how we can have the favor of God and receive the free gift of grace.

Let’s read two different versions of this Bible verse about grace and compare it to the beautiful Amazing Grace lyrics.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

                                          Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

The Meaning of Grace

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, since otherwise grace is no longer grace.

                                Romans 11:6 NIV

Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

                               Hebrews 10:29 NKJV

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we also have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we celebrate in hope of the glory of God.

                               Romans 5:1-2 NASB

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

                               Genesis 6:8 NKJV

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

                               2 Corinthians 8:9 English Standard Version

Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

                               Romans 4:16 NKJV

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

                               Ephesians 2:1-7 ESV

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

                               2 Corinthians 13:14 NASB

I hope these powerful Bible verses about grace have given you a place to start thinking about the meaning of grace in your life. God has so much He wants to give to you. I pray that you will accept it and grow in grace and knowledge. To Him be the glory! Blessings to you!

Trusting God Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense Proverbs 3:5-6

Trusting God Even When It Doesn't Make Sense Proverbs 3:5-6

What does the scripture Proverbs 3:5-6 mean?

We’ve all heard the inspirational scripture from Proverbs 3:5-6. It tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart. But how can we do that when life doesn’t make sense? In this devotion, we’ll read this verse and learn 4 Steps to Trusting God Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense.

But first, let’s read the Bible stories of two people who decided to trust God’s plan when it didn’t make sense. They are more than the earthly parents of our Lord Jesus Christ, they’re a great example of trusting God even when it doesn’t make sense.

Mary the Mother of Jesus

Imagine being fifteen and pregnant, not knowing what would happen to you.

Could you turn to your parents for support or would you face your future motherhood alone? Would the kids at school still be your friends, or would they give you judgmental stares?

Mary, the mother of Jesus, faced a similar circumstance.

As a betrothed young woman, showing up pregnant was a big no-no. She was under contract to marry Joseph, and a breach of that contract meant she would lose everything.

Instead of judgmental stares from her classmates, she would have been shamed in the public eye.

At best, her husband would leave her, and she would be an outcast for the rest of her life. At worst, she would be stoned.

When Mary turned up pregnant, she faced a very unsure future.

And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

“For with God nothing is impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”

                                                              Luke 1:28-35; 37-38 NKJV

Trusting God When It Doesn’t Make Sense

Even though it didn’t make any sense how she, a virgin, could conceive and give birth to a child, Mary believed what God’s messenger, Gabriel, told her with an open heart.

In the midst of her dilemma, her faith was unshakeable. She knew she could count on God to see her through because He is always reliable.

She chose to trust God’s plan for her life.

Joseph

At the same time, Mary was facing the news of her pregnancy, her betrothed Joseph also had a choice to make.

He could continue with his marriage to Mary, knowing she was carrying a child that was not his, or he could cancel the marriage contract and leave her in disgrace, alone to face the crowd.

Being a godly man, Joseph chose to end the marriage quietly so Mary’s life wouldn’t be ruined. But God intervened on Mary’s behalf and sent an angel to speak to Joseph.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,  because he will save his people from their sins.”

                                         Matthew 1:20-21 NIV

It must have been confusing and frightening for Joseph to hear these words.

Because let’s be honest, it’s pretty crazy to think a woman could suddenly be pregnant and still be a virgin, right?

But Joseph believed what the angel said and took Mary as his wife. In doing so, He chose to trust God and to continue on the path God put him on.

Mary and Joseph both trusted God even when it didn’t make sense. They believed God is faithful and His plan would be fulfilled in their lives.

They didn’t understand it all, but they followed God anyway.

Because of their faith, God chose them to play a big part in the promised Messiah coming into this world. And we are all blessed by their decision to trust God.

Trusting God’s Plan

How does the story of Mary and Joseph affect our lives?

Because of our faith in His Son, God has chosen us too!

Just like Mary and Joseph, we each have a part to play in God’s amazing plan!

When we think of Mary and Joseph, we tend to put them on a pedestal.

We picture two amazing people, chosen by God to bring about His plan.

The perfect couple, unafraid, and trusting God in all things.

We see them like they appear in the nativity on our table, angelic and holding the baby Jesus in their arms. Halos surround their heads as they gaze into the eyes of the child who would one day die on a cross for our sins. It’s a beautiful picture of grace under fire.

And this is the way we want to see ourselves too. But we know deep down we’re not perfect, we don’t have halos around our heads, and we aren’t always the picture of grace we want to be. So how could God ever use us in His plan?

What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart?

Let’s read this Bible verse from Proverbs 3. It gives us 4 steps to trusting God even when it doesn’t make sense…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

 Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

#1 Trust in the Lord with all your heart

God wants our whole heart! Not a tiny little piece of it. So, the first step is simply to trust Him with all your heart.

Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

                                 Psalm 37:3-4 NIV

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.

                                 Psalm 28:7 NIV

#2 Lean not on your own understanding

Our understanding isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Because we see the world as it is right now.

But God sees things differently. He knows our past, our present, and our future. And He puts all of those together to work for our good. Once we realize we don’t know it all and our understanding fails us, that’s when God steps in.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

                                 Psalm 20:7 ESV

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

                                Isaiah 26:4 ESV

#3 In all your ways acknowledge Him

Blessings come from God. Period.

And God is asking us to understand and acknowledge where everything we have, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual comes from.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

                                 Psalm 9:10 ESV

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

                                 Psalm 136:1 ESV

#4 He shall direct your path

This is the result of trusting God even when it doesn’t make sense.

God is with us and when we put our trust in Him, He will get us where we need to be according to His perfect plan.

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.

                                  Psalm 37:5 ESV

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

                                  Philippians 1:6 NIV

One day it will all make sense

Maybe you don’t have it all together, I know I don’t. Maybe you don’t understand everything God has in store for you. Or maybe there’s something He’s asked you to do that seems impossible.

You want to follow God, but His plan just doesn’t make sense.

It’s okay if you don’t understand the big picture plan God has for you right now. Step out in faith the way Mary and Joseph did. Chose to trust God to lead you on the path.

Take the first step. He will give the next step, then the next one, and then the next. Eventually, you’ll get to the place He wants you to be. And one day it will all make sense.

My prayer for you is, that you will take that first step and allow God to direct your path. All it takes is trusting God even when it doesn’t make sense.

                           Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV

As you can see, the Word of God has a lot to say to us about trusting God and relying on Him in difficult times. God’s faithfulness keeps us close to Him and lifts us up with His righteous right hand when life doesn’t make sense. So, hold tight to the promises of God found in these scriptures and He will get you through the tough times you’re facing!

Memorial Day Scriptures about Freedom

As we look back at the history of Memorial Day, we can understand the importance of this holiday. It was originally known as Decoration Day because it was the time when people would honor the fallen soldiers by decorating their graves or memorials.

After the Civil War, the name of this holiday was changed, but its meaning lives on today. We still honor our loved ones who have passed away. And we remember the sacrifice of our military then and now.

These brave heroes fought for our freedom. And we are thankful for them.

But these Memorial Day Scriptures about Freedom, give us a glimpse of the unfailing love of Christ. He fought for our freedom in a different way. And in Him we have eternal life and freedom.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

                                          Galatians 5:1

Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

                                         Psalm 146:7

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

                                         Romans 6:22

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Memorial Day Bible Verses about Soldiers

In scripture, the Christian life is often likened to a soldier. There are many reasons why. But the most important is that we are to be like Jesus.

He made the ultimate sacrifice for us the same way a soldier fighting in a foreign land might do today. As we remember those brave men and women who have sacrificed it all on this holiday, let’s read some Bible verses about sacrifice and be inspired by their heroism.

Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.

                                     Psalm 116:15 NKJV

Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

                                     2 Timothy 2:3 NIV

All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.

                                    1 Chronicles 7:40 NIV

Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.

                                    Isaiah 33:7 NIV

                                   1 Chronicles 12:21 NASB

And you shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all kinds of warriors,’ declares the Lord God.

                                    Ezekiel 39:20 English Standard Version

The Armor of God

Every good soldier needs to put on a full set of armor before entering the battlefield.

As we have already seen, Christians are warriors. And we need to be ready for the spiritual battle we face each day.

So, our Heavenly Father has given us a special kind of armor just for us. The Armor of God. With it, we are fully equipped for the battle.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

                                     Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

                                    Ephesians 6:13 NIV

For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

                                    Hebrews 4:12 NASB

Memorial Day Scriptures about Eternal Life

I have family members serving in the military right now. It’s their sacrifice and the sacrifice of so many just like them that keeps us free. And I couldn’t be more thankful to each of them.

But I’m even more grateful for the sacrifice Jesus made to set me and you free. These next scripture references are about the eternal life we have in Jesus Christ once we believe in Him.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

                                    1 Peter 1:3 NKJV

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

                                   2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

                                   Romans 6:23 NIV

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

                                   Romans 8:38-39 NIV

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

                                  Romans 8:35 NIV

Memorial Day Prayers

What is a good prayer for Memorial Day?

This verse from Psalm 27 always offers serenity amid any battle.

It’s about seeking God and finding peace in Him no matter what is going on in the world around us.

And it’s the perfect prayer to offer up to our Heavenly Father on Memorial Day.

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.

                               Psalm 27:4 NKJV

With the truth of these Memorial Day Bible Verses, we can live courageously for Jesus and share His love with everyone we meet each day!

I pray you’ll be blessed with liberty and justice knowing Jesus has made you free!

Happy Memorial Day!

Sunny Bible Verses for Summer

Sunny Bible Verses for Summer

The Summer season is when we think of relaxing and enjoying some downtime. But God’s Word has a lot to say to us about this season. So, in this Bible Study, we’ll read some Sunny Bible Verses for Summer and discover all God has to say to us this time of year.

These Summer scriptures are perfect for memorization, cute Sunday school lessons, or a personal devotion.

Summer is in full swing, ya’ll! 😊

Golden rays of sunshine fill my heart with a renewed sense of optimism. The shade trees give me a reprieve from the rising temperature and remind me to rest in God’s embrace. Sunglasses and sunscreen are my favorite things right now. I take them with me wherever I go, and they help this very fair-skinned girl survive the scorching season.

While the sun is shining bright, and I’m looking for a cool shady place to rest, God pointed me to a quote from Christian author C. S. Lewis…

“Don’t shine so others can see you, shine so that through you, others can see Him.”

Such wise words to ponder. And truth be told, I’ve kept this quote pinned on the board above my desk for a long time. Too long, because I guess I forgot it was there. But God wanted me to think about it today and I know He wants the same for you too. Because this quote is exactly what our Christian lives are all about, pointing others to Jesus!

So, as summer turns up the heat and we look for new ways to shine for Him… let’s turn the AC up, grab an ice-cold drink, and read some Sunny Bible Verses for Summer!

God’s hand created Summer

God established the seasons when He created the earth. He made each one for our benefit and He promises they will remain as long as the earth remains.

You have set all the borders of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.

                                        Psalm 74:17

While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat, Winter and summer,
And day and night Shall not cease.

                                      Genesis 8:22

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

                                    Genesis 8:22 KJV

Summer is Near

The parable of the fig tree is our call to be ready for Christ’s return and to witness to those around us who need Him.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

                                      Matthew 24:32

and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley, will be like a first-ripe fig before the summer: when someone sees it, he swallows it as soon as it is in his hand.

                                    Isaiah 28:4 ESV

God is our Sun

What a wonderful picture, God as a sun and shield! He is our light in the darkness and protector from harm. His gives good gifts, and He gives them to us freely.

In these Bible verses about sunshine, we’ll see how God illuminates the earth for us.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

                               Psalm 84:11

For so the Lord said to me,
“I will take My rest,
And I will look from My dwelling place
Like clear heat in sunshine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

                            Isaiah 18:4

Summer Time verses about the Sun and Moon

Another gift that comes down from the Father of lights, the sun to shine the way in daytime and the moon to glow at night. Each of these heavenly bodies speaks to the divine nature of God and the cycle of nature He alone created. These verses paint a picture of God’s sovereign character, reigning over His creation.

Thus says the Lord,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
The Lord of hosts is His name

                              Jeremiah 31:35

The sun and moon stood still in their habitation;
At the light of Your arrows they went,
At the shining of Your glittering spear.

                            Habakkuk 3:11

The earth quakes before them,
The heavens tremble;
The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars diminish their brightness.

                              Joel 2:10

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

                             James 1:17 New International Version

Inspirational Summer Proverbs

Proverbs is full of practical wisdom, and these scriptures are common sense at its best. If we follow them, we can’t go wrong in the summer months or any other season.

Plus, a little inspiration from Song of Solomon just for fun.

He who gathers in summer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

                            Proverbs 10:5 NKJV

He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son,
but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

                           Proverbs 10:5 NIV

The ants are a people not strong,
Yet they prepare their food in the summer;

                          Proverbs 30:25 NKJV

Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer;

                         Proverbs 30:25 NIV

Go to the ant, O sluggard;
consider her ways, and be wise.
Without having any chief,
officer, or ruler,
she prepares her bread in summer
and gathers her food in harvest.

                          Proverbs 6:6-8 ESV

Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.

                       Song of Songs 2:12 NIV

Summer heat reflected in our lives

In our minds, summer is about fun and vacation, but these next Summer Bible verses are a cautionary tale.

As I read them, I’m reminded to fear the Lord and walk in His ways. I don’t want the summer heat to reflect badly in my life, so I chose to learn from the mistakes written about here.

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.

                                    Psalm 32:4

Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit.

                                   Amos 8:1

I will destroy the winter house along with the summer house; The houses of ivory shall perish, And the great houses shall have an end,” Says the Lord.

                                Amos 3:15 NKJV

Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

                              Daniel 2:35 ESV

Surely the great houses will become desolate,
the fine mansions left without occupants.
 A ten-acre vineyard will produce only a bath of wine;
a homer of seed will yield only an ephah of grain.

                              Isaiah 5:9-10 NIV

They shall all of them be left to the birds of prey of the mountains and to the beasts of the earth. And the birds of prey will summer on them, and all the beasts of the earth will winter on them.

                              Isaiah 18:6 ESV

Bible Verses about Summer Fruit

The blessings of God are the meaning behind these next Bible verses about Summer fruit.

When we walk with God and follow His will for our lives, God’s blessings are as abundant as the growing season in summer.

But when we go our own way, God removes His blessings and draws us back to Himself.

I pray they will help you the next time you feel far from God and His blessings.

When David had passed a little beyond the summit, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, bearing two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred bunches of raisins, a hundred of summer fruits, and a skin of wine.

                                2 Samuel 16:1 ESV

And the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?” So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.”

                             2 Samuel 16:2 NKJV

O vine of Sibmah! I will weep for you with the weeping of Jazer.
Your plants have gone over the sea,
They reach to the sea of Jazer.
The plunderer has fallen on your summer fruit and your vintage.

                               Jeremiah 48:32 NKJV

they all came back to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, from all the countries where they had been scattered. And they harvested an abundance of wine and summer fruit.

                            Genesis 1:29 NIV

Summer Bible Verses about a New Beginning

Sometimes we need a new beginning. And the next scriptures are about that desire. Not just within our own selves, but in God’s heart too. He wants to give us good things. And He wants to have a close relationship with us.

So, He sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to give us the Kingdom of God and all that comes with it!

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.

                             Revelation 1:1-2 ESV

and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

                           Revelation 1:5 ESV

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

These Precious Bible Verses for Mother’s Day have something for everyone. So, let’s celebrate mom on her big day with this collection of Bible Verses all about her!

It’s the time of year we set aside to celebrate the most precious woman in our lives… our Mother. She’s the one who brought us into this world and made us the person we are today.

My mother was a strong independent career woman. The very definition of a modern-day Proverbs 31 woman.

But she was more than that to me. She was my best friend and confidant. The person I could always turn to no matter what. She listened patiently to all of my problems, secrets, and dreams.

She held me close when I hurt and gave me the nickname “Precious”. Because that’s what I was to her, and she was never afraid to let me know it.

She was also a lot of fun and had a way of turning everyday things into a game. She was an amazing lady who loved her children and put us above herself.

But my mom’s greatest gift to me and my brother was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a gifted Bible teacher, sharing her knowledge in Sunday school classes, Wednesday night Precept meetings, family gatherings, and most importantly in our own home.

What a blessing it was to grow up in a house where I was taught God’s Word every single day!

This is where we begin our look at Precious Bible Verses for Mother’s Day! There’s something here for everyone. So, let’s dive in an learn what the Bible says about a good mother.

Inspirational Mother’s Day Verses

Being a great mom is about nurturing your children, taking care of their physical needs, and building a secure family life for them to thrive in. A mom’s dedication to daily providing for her kids is inspiring.

So, these inspirational Mother’s Day verses are a great way to start off our devotional dedicated to moms everywhere.

Beautiful Bible Verses about A Mother’s Teaching

A mother’s most important job is to teach her children to love and respect the Lord. This instruction is the foundation of a child’s faith. It stays with them when they are grown and follows them wherever they go.

As you’ll see in these beautiful Bible verses about a mother’s teaching, it truly is the most precious gift a mother could give her child.

My son, keep your father’s command
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Bind them always on your heart;
fasten them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you;
when you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.

                                 Proverbs 6:20-22

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.

                                 Proverbs 1:8-9 NIV

Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

                                 Proverbs 22:6

A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.

                                 Proverbs 29:15 NIV

Bible Verses on Honoring Your Mother and Father

As you’ll read in just a few seconds, honoring your parents is the very first of the Ten Commandments with a promise.

Respect your mother and father and in return, God will give you a long and successful life.

This promise builds strong, godly families and shows the faith of all who live in your household.

No One represented this commandment better than Jesus Himself. As He faced the cross, He remembered His precious mother and made sure she would be cared for in His absence.

So, let’s honor the sacrifice of our Savior Christ Jesus and our mother by reading these Bible verses on honoring your mother and father.

Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

                                Deuteronomy 5:16

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

                                Ephesians 6:1-3

 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

                               Exodus 20:12

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

                                John 19:26-27

Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path:

                                Proverbs 23:19 NIV

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

                                 Proverbs 10:1 ESV

 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’  they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

                                 Matthew 15:5-6 NIV

Mother’s Day Bible Verses from Proverbs 31

What does Proverbs say about mothers?

                                Proverbs 31:10 NIV

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

                                Proverbs 31:11 NIV

Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

                               Proverbs 31:28 NKJV

There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!

                               Proverbs 31:29 NLT

Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

                               Proverbs 31:31

Mother’s Day Bible Verses about the Joys of Motherhood

God lovingly created each one of us. He knew us before we were born. And His greatest joy is in His children.

This is the same joy God gives to mothers everywhere.

The knowledge of their precious unborn child growing inside of them. The sweet face of their newborn baby as they hold them for the first time. Gently guiding them along life’s path. And seeing them follow the Lord with all their heart.

These are the joys of Motherhood found in the following Bible Verses for Mother’s Day.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

                              Psalm 139:13 NLT

May your father and mother rejoice;
may she who gave you birth be joyful!

                               Proverbs 23:25

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!

                               Isaiah 49:15

A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

                                John 16:21

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.

                                 Psalm 127:3

Children’s children are a crown to the aged,
and parents are the pride of their children.

                                 Proverbs 17:6

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.

Encouraging Bible Verses for Mothers

God’s Word is filled with guidance. And these Verses for Moms tell us how we should act as Christian women. Encouraging one another, caring more about what is in our hearts than our outward appearance, and bearing fruit for God’s Kingdom throughout our lives.

Let’s read them and find inspiration for the days ahead.

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,

                                   Psalm 92:12-14 NIV

well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

                                  1 Timothy 5:10 NKJV

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

                                  Proverbs 11:16 NIV

                                 1 Timothy 5:1-2 NLT

 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

                                  Titus 2:3-5 NASB

Easter Bible Verses that will inspire you everyday!

Easter Bible Verses that will inspire you everyday

If you have come here looking for inspirational Easter Bible verses, you’re in the right place! I pray that these Easter verses will give you encouragement and inspiration as we prepare for this momentous holiday season.

Easter is THE Christian holiday. It represents the most important and fundamental belief of our Christian faith, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Without the resurrection, Christianity would be pointless. But because of it, we have the hope of a future here on earth and a new life in heaven with Him to come.

It is no small wonder that we are the only world religion that worships a living god. Jesus is alive! He has risen from the grave! Easter is the time we set aside to remember the sacrifice of our loving Savior. And God’s Word is full of inspiration about this important holiday. So let’s celebrate Him today with these Easter Bible Verses!

Classic Easter Scriptures…

These Easter Bible verses are perfect for writing in Easter cards, Sunday School lessons, or reading aloud at your Easter Sunday dinner or annual Easter egg hunt.

He is risen! He is not here.

                             Mark 16:6 NKJV

Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.

                            1 Corinthians 15:12-14 NKJV

He is not here; but has risen! Remember how He spoke to you, when He was still in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.

                                  Luke 24:6-7 NKJV

And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say Place of the Skull, they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink.

Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:

They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.

                                   Matthew 27:33-36 NKJV

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

                                         Luke 24:1-3 ESV

And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them.

In His Own Words: Jesus spoke about His impending death and resurrection…

There is nothing better than the words of Jesus! You just can’t improve on them. Jesus knew what was going to happen to Him, yet He still chose the cross. And to “hear” His words flow through our lives as we read them is an amazing experience.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

                                         John 11:25 NKJV

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

                                          Matthew 12:40 NKJV

The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.

                                          Matthew 17:22 NKJV

All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:

I will strike the Shepherd,

And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.

But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.

                                        Matthew 26:31-32 NKJV

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priest and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again.

                                           Mark 10:33-34 NKJV

Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.

                                          John 10:17-18 NKJV

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

                                         Matthew 16:21 NIV

When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

                                         Mark 2:17 NLT

Old Testament Prophecies of Jesus’ death and resurrection…

These scriptures plainly show how much forethought went into the coming of the Messiah and His sacrifice on the cross. Before time began God was making a way for us to be with Him. He had a plan, a plan to redeem us through His Son.

For me, these Easter verses kick-start my faith when I need it the most. When I read them, fear and doubt disappear and all that is left is the peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)

 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,

Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

                                            Psalm 16:10 NKJV

For dogs have surrounded Me;

The congregation of the wicked has

enclosed Me.
They pierced My hands and My feet;

I can count all My bones.

They look and stare at Me.

They divide My garments among them,

And for My clothing they cast lots.

                                           Psalm 22:16-18 NKJV

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; and they will look on Me whom they have pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

                                        Zechariah 12:10 NKJV

For I know that My Redeemer lives,

And He shall stand at last on the earth;

                                     Job 19:25 NKJV

He will swallow up death forever,

And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;

The rebuke of His people

He will take away from all the earth;

For the Lord has spoken.

                                      Isaiah 25:8  NKJV

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

                                    Isaiah 53:3 ESV

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

                                      Isaiah 53:5-6 NKJV

Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.

                                     Isaiah 26:19 ESV

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

                                    Zechariah 9:9 ESV

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,  for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.”

                                         Luke 23:45-47 NIV

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

                                         John 19:30 NKJV

Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish high council,  but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.

                                   Luke 23:50-52 NLT

Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb which had been cut out in the rock; and he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

                                    Mark 15:46 NASB

and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.

                                  Matthew 27:29 NIV

 A sign announced the charge against him. It read, “The King of the Jews.”

                                 Mark 15:26 NLT

Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

The true meaning of Easter is found in these Resurrection Bible Verses. They begin with the magnificence of our Risen Savior and continue with the joy of our salvation we have in Jesus today. Because the story of Easter is evident in our lives every day!

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

                                  Romans 8:34 NIV

                                    John 5:25 NASB

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

                                  Romans 1:4 NIV

And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.

                                   Matthew 28:2 ESV

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

                                  Romans 6:4 NKJV

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

                                   1 Thessalonians 4:16 ESV

When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.

An Easter Prayer

As we wrap up our look at Easter Bible Verses that will Inspire You Every day, I want to leave you with one last Easter scripture. This verse is my Easter prayer for you…

 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength  he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

                                 Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV

As you can see in these Easter Bible Verses that will Inspire You Every Day, God planned the death and resurrection of Christ very carefully. Each intricate detail was thought out and painstakingly put into place so that we could have complete confidence in our faith and salvation. Because of Jesus’s death, we have forgiveness of sin. Golden Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day

Golden Bible Verses for St. Patrick's Day

Today let’s read some Golden Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day and discover the true meaning of this fun holiday.

For most of us, St. Patrick’s Day is a time for family and friends to gather in celebration of all things Irish (and in case you don’t already know… everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day).

During this joyful holiday, lucky four-leaf clovers dance in our heads as we dream of tiny green leprechauns leading us to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

And who doesn’t want a pot of gold to call their own? It’s fun to think of wealth beyond our wildest imagination, isn’t it? But the legend of the leprechaun is meant to be a warning against the greed that lurks within our hearts.

Yes, silly green leprechauns are only a myth, but our love of money is very real. And it’s usually the thing that gets us twisted up inside and pushes us away from having a close relationship with God.

The Bible tells us God examines our hearts. He tests it to see what is inside. Because it’s what’s in our heart that truly matters to God. He doesn’t care if we have that imaginary pot of gold or a huge bank account. He only cares that we know His Son Jesus Christ and the radiant love He offers.

So, today we’re gonna look at some “Golden” Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day.

We’ll start with the “Golden Rule”, the thing we think of most when we “hear” the word golden. Then we’ll read some scriptures that will help us examine our heart and what is inside of it. And end with some wonderful verses to remind us of the goodness of God and His provision.

Let’s get started…

The Golden Rule

And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

                                                      Luke 6:31 NKJV

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…

 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

                                                   Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,
But the Lord tests the hearts.

                                                   Proverbs 17:3

He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.

                                                  Malachi 3:3

Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold;

                                                 Proverbs 8:10

I will bring the one-third through the fire,
Will refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them.
I will say, ‘This is My people’;
And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’

                                                 Zechariah 13:9

Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

                                                    James 5:3

Do not trust in oppression,
Nor vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase,
Do not set your heart on them.

                                                  Psalm 62:10

Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful.

                                                 Colossians 3:15

Remember the Lord your God

Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.

                                                 Isaiah 60:5

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

                                                  Deuteronomy 8:18

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

                                                   Isaiah 61:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

                                                  Malachi 3:10

I truly hope these “Golden” Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day have blessed you! And I’ll leave you with this thoughtful quote from St. Patrick himself. May it serve to remind us all to put Christ first in our hearts and in our lives!

“Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.”

Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit

Do you wonder… What does God say about Spring in the Bible? These Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit will tell you exactly what this season means for nature and for you!

Spring is in full bloom! It’s a beautiful season of renewal in nature. The trees are budding, and the flowers are peeking out. They’ve come to life after a long winter’s rest.

Just like them, we’ve been tucked away during the cold winter months and we’re ready to spring to life again too. And nothing accompanies the backdrop of spring better than the many scriptures about this glorious event.

So, today we’re reading Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit. Together, let’s fill our minds with God’s Word, allow it to take root in our hearts, and renew our tired spirits. In no time at all, we’ll be ready to bloom like the flowers of the field.

To begin our Spring Bible Verses, I’ve chosen one of my favorites… This scripture isn’t so much about spring, but instead it’s a fresh start that God wants to give to us. And since spring is about renewal, I thought it was a great way to start our Bible Study. I hope it speaks to you the same way it does to me.

A New Season

Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth:

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

                              Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

The same sentiment of “spring forth” is echoed again later in Isaiah…

For as the earth brings forth its bud,

As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,

So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

                            Isaiah 61:11

Bible Verses about Flowers

Spring wouldn’t be spring without flowers. Their vibrant pops of color are a metaphor of the delicate balance between life and death and represent the new life we have in Jesus. So, here’s a shortlist of the many Bible verses about flowers that inspire me during the season of spring…

The flowers appear on the earth;

The time of singing has come,

And the voice of the turtledove

Is heard in our land.

                          Song of Solomon 2:12 NKJV

I am the rose of Sharon,

And the lily of the valleys.

Like a lily among thorns,

So is my love among the daughters.

                              Song of Solomon 2:1-2

So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

                              Matthew 6:28-29

The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.

                             Isaiah 40:8

As for man, his days are like grass;

As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

 For the wind passes over it, and it is]gone,

And its place remembers it no more.

                             Psalm 103:15-16

He comes forth like a flower and fades away;

He flees like a shadow and does not continue.

                             Job 14:2

Spring Rains Scriptures

Without the spring rains, we wouldn’t have the blessing of bright colors on the spring flowers. Likewise, these spring scriptures give us a picture of God’s blessings falling on us like a welcoming rain shower.

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.

                             Zechariah 10:1 NIV

Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

                             Deuteronomy 32:2 NIV

Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.

                             Hosea 6:3 NIV

They waited for me as for the rain,

And they opened their mouth wide as for the spring rain.

                             Job 29:23

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.

                             Joel 2:23 NIV

In the light of a king’s face there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.

                             Proverbs 16:15 ESV

Thirsty Land

Sometimes our lives become like a thirsty land, dried up and desperate for Living Water. But the Lord God Almighty has a way of turning a barren wasteland into an oasis. If we have a little faith and follow Him, He will restore and renew us with an abundance of fresh water.

These Bible verses for Spring remind us to drink the Living Water of Jesus every day and allow the Spirit of God to bless us…

For I will pour water on the thirsty land,

    and streams on the dry ground;

I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,

    and my blessing on your descendants.

They will spring up like grass in a meadow,

    like poplar trees by flowing streams.

                              Isaiah 44:3-4 NIV

The desert and the parched land will be glad;

    the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.

Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;

    it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.

The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,

    the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;

they will see the glory of the Lord,

    the splendor of our God.

                            Isaiah 35:1-2 NIV

To you, O Lord, I call.

For fire has devoured

    the pastures of the wilderness,

and flame has burned

    all the trees of the field.

Even the beasts of the field pant for you

    because the water brooks are dried up,

and fire has devoured

    the pastures of the wilderness.

                           Joel 1:19-20 ESV

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

                           Isaiah 41:18 ESV

Springtime for our Spiritual Lives

The spring season is a time for new beginnings and new growth in nature. But springtime showers of rain mean fresh growth, not only for the plants for us too. May we rejoice in God’s truth during this season of renewal…

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

                             2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

                           2 Peter 3:18

Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;

Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.

                           1 Chronicles 16:38

Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.

                           James 5:7 NIV

So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.

                           Deuteronomy 11:13-14 NIV

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

                            Psalm 1:3 ESV

For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.

                            Isaiah 61:11 NIV

See! The winter is past;

    the rains are over and gone.

Flowers appear on the earth;

    the season of singing has come,

the cooing of doves

    is heard in our land.

The fig tree forms its early fruit;

    the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.

Arise, come, my darling;

    my beautiful one, come with me.

                            Song of Songs 2:11-13

Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

                             Isaiah 58:8 NKJV

Seasons in the Bible

God created the seasons for a purpose. And all four seasons are represented in the Bible. Each season shows us more and more about God’s divine nature and the power He has over creation. Here are a few scriptures to teach us God’s reason for the season…

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.

                             Genesis 1:14-15 ESV

He made the moon for the seasons;

The sun knows the place of its setting.

                             Psalm 104:19 NASB

A Prayer to Renew a Steadfast Spirit

As you can see this beautiful time of year ushers in a new season for the whole world to see. The old life we had is gone. And a new life in Jesus is waiting ahead. He is ready to turn the storm clouds overhead into a sunny day. And with a little help from the Holy Spirit renew our hearts and minds for the season ahead.

So, as we close out our time together reading Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit… This last verse is my prayer for myself and for you during this season of spring and always…

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

                            Psalm 51:10 NKJV

Powerful Bible Verses about Lions

Powerful Bible Verses about Lions

It’s amazing how many scriptures there are about lions! So, in this devotional, we’ll read Powerful Bible Verses about Lions and discover the meaning behind the image of this majestic animal in scripture.

What does a lion in the Bible symbolize?

Lions are the king of the jungle for a reason!

They strut and roar and strike fear into the heart of anything that crosses their path. Just by the way they carry themselves, we know they’re in charge of the animal kingdom and the top of the food chain.

So, is it any wonder that the lion is a symbol of strength and courage in the Bible?

You probably already knew that, but it’s deeper.

This majestic animal represents many different things in scripture. The glory of God, the Savior Himself, wicked people in general, and the enemy are all depicted as a roaring lion on the prowl.

Lion in the Bible

The Christian life is full of pitfalls. And there might be a lion in there waiting to gobble us up.

So, if the lion represents strength and courage, then you know God’s got a lot to say to us about them. Because He doesn’t leave His children all alone to face these kinds of worldly traps.

Let’s read some of some Powerful Bible Verses about Lions and find strength and courage for today.

We’ll start with something we’re all familiar with…

Roaring Lion Bible Verses

There is nothing quite like the sound of a lion roaring. It sends chills down our spines and strikes terror in our hearts.

A fierce roaring lion demands respect. And their primal roar reminds us how fragile we truly are.

But what does the Bible say about a roaring lion?

In these Roaring Lion Scriptures, we discover what God’s Word has to say to us…

The roaring of the lion, The voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.

The old lion perishes for lack of prey,
And the cubs of the lioness are scattered.

                                      Job 4:10-11 NKJV

A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion,
but his favor is like dew on the grass.

                                     Proverbs 19:12 NIV

 For thus the Lord has spoken to me:

“As a lion roars,
And a young lion over his prey
(When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him,
He will not be afraid of their voice
Nor be disturbed by their noise),
So the Lord of hosts will come down
To fight for Mount Zion and for its hill.

                                  Isaiah 31:4 NKJV

They gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.

                                     Psalm 22:13 NKJV

The young lions roar after their prey,
And seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they gather together
And lie down in their dens.

                                        Psalm 104:21-22 NKJV

The king’s fury is like a lion’s roar;
to rouse his anger is to risk your life.

                                       Proverbs 20:2 NLT

Her people all roar like young lions, they growl like lion cubs.

                                    Jeremiah 51:38 NIV

The young lions roared at him, and growled;
They made his land waste;
His cities are burned, without inhabitant.

                                      Jeremiah 2:15 NKJV

Their roar is like that of the lion, they roar like young lions; they growl as they seize their prey and carry it off with no one to rescue.

                                      Isaiah 5:29 NIV

A king’s wrath strikes terror like the roar of a lion; those who anger him forfeit their lives.

                                    Proverbs 20:2 NIV

Bible verse that says the devil is like a lion

The most popular Bible Verse about Lions comes from 1 Peter 5.

It’s a vivid description of the enemy from someone who was caught in the teeth of this lion more than once.

But here’s the catch… Satan likes to think of himself like God. He even once said he would be like the Most High. He’s an arrogant and conniving deceiver. But he’s only deceiving himself. Because he will never be like God!

So, in this roaring like a lion Bible verse, we see an example of Satan imitating Jesus. And doing a pretty poor job of it.

I pray it will encourage you when you come up against the enemy like Peter did.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

                                        1 Peter 5:8 NIV

This message came to me concerning the animals in the Negev:

The caravan moves slowly
across the terrible desert to Egypt—
donkeys weighed down with riches
and camels loaded with treasure—
all to pay for Egypt’s protection.
They travel through the wilderness,
a place of lionesses and lions,
a place where vipers and poisonous snakes live.
All this, and Egypt will give you nothing in return.
Egypt’s promises are worthless!
Therefore, I call her Rahab—
the Harmless Dragon.

                                         Isaiah 30:6-7 NLT

For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’

                                      Isaiah 14:13-14 NKJV

Lion of Judah Verse

Why is Jesus called the Lion of Judah?

The strength and majesty of Jesus Christ cannot be rivaled! He is the Messiah who was promised to Judah in the Old Testament.

The first time Jesus came to earth it was to sacrifice Himself for our sins. But when He comes again it will be to rule over His kingdom.

This is the image of Jesus as a lion in the Bible. The lion ruling over the animal kingdom and taking charge of everything around him is a direct reflection Jesus’ character. He will come again, and He will rule over all of creation!

Now that we’ve read about the enemy’s cheap imitation of Jesus, let’s look at some Bible verses about the Lion of Judah. And learn how this image of the conquering Christ Jesus gives us strength and courage when we need them the most.

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

                                     Revelation 5:5 King James Version

For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
And like a young lion to the house of Judah.
I, even I, will tear them and go away;
I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.

                                     Hosea 5:14 NKJV

You are a lion’s cub, Judah;
you return from the prey, my son.
Like a lion he crouches and lies down,
like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?

                                 Genesis 49:9 NIV

God as a Lion in the Bible

Jesus is the Lion of Judah, the conquering hero, and our Savior. But scripture also depicts God the Father as a fierce, strong lion, ruling over His creation.

So, let’s read this God roaring like a lion scripture and learn more about the One True God who roars like a lion and defeats His foe with ease.

Each one is sure to fill you with confidence in your faith!

I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs;
I will tear open their breast,
and there I will devour them like a lion,
as a wild beast would rip them open.

                               Hosea 13:8 ESV

He has been to me a bear lying in wait,
Like a lion in ambush.
He has turned aside my ways and torn me in pieces;
He has made me desolate.

                                      Lamentations 3:10 NKJV

The lion has roared;
who will not fear?
The Lord God has spoken;
who can but prophesy?”

                                      Amos 3:8 ESV

But this is what the Lord has told me:

“When a strong young lion
stands growling over a sheep it has killed,
it is not frightened by the shouts and noise
of a whole crowd of shepherds.
In the same way, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will come down and fight on Mount Zion.

                                      Isaiah 31:4 NLT

If I am wicked, woe to me;
Even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head.
I am full of disgrace;
See my misery!
If my head is exalted,
You hunt me like a fierce lion,
And again You show Yourself awesome against me.

                                      Job 10:15-16 NKJV

For the waters of Dimon will be full of blood;
Because I will bring more upon Dimon,
Lions upon him who escapes from Moab,
And on the remnant of the land.”

                                    Isaiah 15:9 NKJV

Where is the lions’ den,
the feeding place of the young lions,
where the lion and lioness went,
where his cubs were, with none to disturb?
The lion tore enough for his cubs
and strangled prey for his lionesses;
he filled his caves with prey
and his dens with torn flesh.

Behold, I am against you, declares the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard.

                                        Nahum 2:11-13 ESV

They will follow the Lord;
he will roar like a lion.
When he roars,
his children will come trembling from the west.

                                       Hosea 11:10 NIV

“Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets
to a rich pastureland,
I will chase Edom from its land in an instant.
Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this?
Who is like me and who can challenge me?
And what shepherd can stand against me?”

                                        Jeremiah 49:19 NIV

I have considered until morning—
Like a lion,
So He breaks all my bones;
From day until night You make an end of me.

                                   Isaiah 38:13 NKJV

Daniel and the Lions Den Verse

Can you imagine being stuck in the lion’s habitat at the zoo? Surrounded by the strongest and most deadly apex predator on the planet with no way out? What a terrifying thought!

Well, that’s where Daniel found himself one night.

Even though we think of Daniel as a hero of the faith, he was also human like us. So, he must have been scared during his visit to the lion’s den.

But there’s something fascinating about Daniel’s story. The Bible doesn’t tell us what he was doing overnight surrounded by predators. Just that he was sealed up tight inside of a lion’s den.

Then God’s Word takes us to the king and how he fared during the night.

Maybe it’s because Daniel knew he had God on his side, or maybe we’re supposed to take more away from the anxiety of the king.

Whatever the reason, God has something important to teach us in this Daniel in the lions den verse…

 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss.

                                   Daniel 6:1-2 NKJV

Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”

                                  Daniel 6:5 NIV

All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

                                  Daniel 6:7 NKJV

 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.

                                   Daniel 6:10 NLT

Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.

                                  Daniel 6:11 NIV

So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: “Did you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions’ den?” The king answered, “The decree stands—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”

                                 Daniel 6:12 NIV

A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed.

                                Daniel 6:17 NIV

 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den.

                                  Daniel 6:19 NIV

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

                                Daniel 6:20 King James Version

And the king commanded, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and cast into the den of lions—they, their children, and their wives. And before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones in pieces.

                                   Daniel 6:24 ESV

Lion and Lamb Bible Verses

Lion and Lamb Bible Verse

The image of the Lion and Lamb represents our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the Lamb of God, the blood sacrifice for our sins. And the Lion of Judah, conquering death.

Both depictions are a reference to His work on the cross and the salvation we have in Him!

In the following the lion and the lamb scripture we see a picture of grace and tranquility.

The lion lays down with the lamb, and the Lion and Lamb gives us salvation and a way to eternity!

Let’s read on and learn more in these lion and lamb verses.

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

                              John 1:29 ESV

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
The lion shall eat straw like the ox,
And dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”
Says the Lord.

                                Isaiah 65:25 NKJV

The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.

                                Isaiah 11:6 NIV

The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

                                 Isaiah 11:7 ESV

Bible Verses about Lions and Strength

As we’ve already learned, the lion represents strength and courage in a Christian’s life.

These Bible Verses about lions are a metaphor for the strength we find in knowing God and having Him on our side every day.

The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

                                  Psalm 34:10 NIV

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.

                                      2 Timothy 4:17 NIV

who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.

                                     Hebrews 11:33 NIV

There are three things that walk with stately stride—
no, four that strut about:

                                     Proverbs 30:29 NLT

a lion, mighty among beasts,
who retreats before nothing;

                                     Proverbs 30:30 NIV

Lord my God, I take refuge in you;
save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
or they will tear me apart like a lion
and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

                                     Psalm 7:2 NIV

But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock,  I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.

                                 1 Samuel 17:34-35 NIV

Proud beasts do not set foot on it, and no lion prowls there.

Bible Verses about Lions in Heaven

Did you know that the Old Testament book of Daniel is a mirror image of the New Testament book of Revelation? And the temple built in the Old Testament is a mirror image of heaven? Pretty amazing, right?

God gave both Daniel and John a glimpse of heaven. Through their visions (and with an assist from Ezekiel and Samuel) we can see the glory awaiting us!

As we’ll read in these next scriptures, lions are represented in heaven quite a bit.

So, let’s dive into these Bible verses about lions in heaven and catch our own glimpse of the glory of God in them!

The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.

                                     Revelation 4:7

The first was like a lion and had eagles’ wings. Then as I looked its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and the mind of a man was given to it.

Samson Kills a Lion Bible Verse

The story of Samson and the lion is a testament to the power of the Holy Spirit and His strength within us.

But there’s a lesson in this scripture about lions for us too. God used this lion and a silly riddle about it to bring about His plan.

Samson went down to Timnah together with his father and mother. As they approached the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion came roaring toward him.  The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

                                       Judges 14:5-6 NIV

After some time, when he returned to get her, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion. And behold, a swarm of bees and honey were in the carcass of the lion.  He took some of it in his hands and went along, eating. When he came to his father and mother, he gave some to them, and they also ate. But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.

                                     Judges 14:8-9 NKJV

So the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down:

“What is sweeter than honey?
And what is stronger than a lion?”

And he said to them:

“If you had not plowed with my heifer,
You would not have solved my riddle!”

                                 Judges 14:18 New King James Version

In this devotional, we’ll answer the question… Will You Stand Firm in the Faith?

The Man of God and the Old Prophet Bible Verses

Obeying the word of the Lord is the theme of these Biblical stories. And the lion is the price for disobeying the Lord’s command.

We can learn a lot from the cautionary tales of these men of God. Each one is a reminder to follow the Lord and obey Him in our lives today.

As he went on his way, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left lying on the road, with both the donkey and the lion standing beside it.

                                      1 Kings 13:24 NIV

People who passed by saw the body lying in the road and the lion standing beside it, and they went and reported it in Bethel, where the old prophet lived.

                                        1 Kings 13:25 NLT

 Now when the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to the word of the Lord. Therefore the Lord has delivered him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke to him.”

                                      1 Kings 13:26 NKJV

So the prophet said, “Because you have not obeyed the LORD, as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you.” And after the man went away, a lion found him and killed him.

                                1 Kings 20:36 NIV

Wicked People Compared to Lions

The Bible compares the wicked to lions laying in wait for their prey to pass by. Each of these Bible Verses about Lions is a warning to be on guard against those who would seek to destroy us and turn us away from God’s plan.

like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.

                                        Psalm 10:9

They are like a lion hungry for prey,
like a fierce lion crouching in cover.

                                    Psalm 17:12 NIV

Break their teeth in their mouth, O God! Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!

                                   Psalm 58:6 NKJV

A lion has gone up from his thicket, a destroyer of nations has set out; he has gone out from his place to make your land a waste; your cities will be ruins without inhabitant.

                                Jeremiah 4:7 ESV

The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside!
I’ll be killed in the public square!”

                                       Proverbs 22:13 NKJV

A sluggard says, “There’s a lion in the road,
a fierce lion roaming the streets!”

                                      Proverbs 26:13 NIV

     The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations,
in the midst of many peoples,
like a lion among the beasts of the forest,
like a young lion among flocks of sheep,
which mauls and mangles as it goes,
and no one can rescue.

                                        Micah 5:8 NIV

 And at the beginning of their living there, they did not fear the Lord; therefore the Lord sent lions among them that were killing some of them. So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations whom you have taken into exile and settled in the cities of Samaria do not know the custom of the God of the land; so He has sent lions among them, and behold, they are killing them because they do not know the custom of the God of the land.”

                                        2 Kings 17:25-26 NASB

Moses said this about the tribe of Dan:

“Dan is a lion’s cub,
leaping out from Bashan.”

                                       Deuteronomy 33:22 NLT

About Gad he said:

“Blessed is he who enlarges Gad’s domain!
Gad lives there like a lion,
tearing at arm or head.

                                     Deuteronomy 33:20 NIV

A nation has invaded my land,
a mighty army without number;
it has the teeth of a lion,
the fangs of a lioness.

                                        Joel 1:6 NIV

Come with me from Lebanon, my bride, come with me from Lebanon. Descend from the crest of Amana, from the top of Senir, the summit of Hermon, from the lions’ dens and the mountain haunts of leopards.

                                   Song of Songs 4:8 NIV

Be as Bold as a Lion

In this final Bible Verse about lions, we learn the most important lesson about them… Stand firm in the faith and be as bold as a lion!

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them,
but the godly are as bold as lions.

                                        Proverbs 28:1 NLT

I pray these Powerful Bible Verses about Lions have helped you see your faith in Jesus in a new light and that you will be inspired by them in your daily life!

Spiritual Warfare Scriptures [for when you’re under attack]

Spiritual Warfare Scriptures for when you're under attack

Do you ever feel like you’re fighting a losing battle? In this Devotional, we’ll read Spiritual Warfare Scriptures, learn how to withstand a spiritual attack from the enemy, and win the battle every time!

What is Spiritual Warfare in the Bible?

Going up against the spiritual forces of evil sounds like a plot to a Hollywood movie. Angels and demons battling it out. Arrows flying through the air, and big explosions in the background.

But this isn’t the latest box office hit.

It’s what’s happening around us in the spiritual realm every minute of every day.

In my Bible Study How to Resist the Devil, I wrote about how it’s not acceptable to talk about Satan and his demons in polite society. We pretend he doesn’t exist and go about our business. Because if we talk about the battle between good and evil going on in the heavenly places we can’t see, people will point and laugh at us. Right?

But the truth is… the devil is real. And he is really out to get us!

How do you fight spiritual warfare Biblically?

Christians face a spiritual battle every single day. And if we are living our lives for Jesus the way we are called by God to do, you can bet Satan and his tiny little minions will be there waging a spiritual war in our lives.

Because when we chose to follow Jesus and let the world know it, we are painting a giant bullseye on our foreheads. People will call us crazy. And Satan will attack us.

But that’s okay. God has given us all of the tools we need to defeat our foe and win the war against the forces of darkness.

Our most effective weapon in spiritual warfare is the Word of God, the Bible.

And in this Devotional, we’ll read Spiritual Warfare Scriptures. Each one is meant to help us stay in the fight and win the war.

So, when you’re under attack from the enemy, read these Bible verses and allow God’s Word to guide you as you resist the devil and battle it out in your life.

Powerful Bible Verses about Spiritual Warfare

We’ll start our Bible study with some of the most popular spiritual warfare scriptures. They are a powerful example of God’s grace when we’re under fire.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

                                  Ephesians 6:12 ESV

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

                                     Ephesians 6:11 NIV

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.

                                2 Corinthians 10:3

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

                                   Ephesians 6:10 NIV

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

                                  2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.

                                 Isaiah 54:17 NKJV

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

                                 2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,  making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

                                    Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

                                     Romans 8:38-39 NIV

The Armor of God

The Christian life is like an intricate military operation. And any great soldier knows you don’t walk onto the battlefield without your armory.

In the book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul gives us a vivid description of the Armor of God. Each piece of the armour of God is a part of our.

God’s armor consists of many pieces of equipment. Each one makes up the whole of our spiritual armory. And these weapons of spiritual warfare are a source of strength in the spiritual battles we face every day. With them we can march out onto the battlefield of life with confidence. And take on the war that’s raging around us every day.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

                                 Ephesians 6:13

Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

                               Ephesians 6:14-17 ESV

by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,  by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;

                                  2 Corinthians 6:6-8 NKJV

Weapons of Spiritual Warfare Scripture

Each part of the Armor of God is an offensive weapon in our spiritual battle. Meaning it is not only an effective defense but also an even better offense.

Each powerful weapon of warfare in our arsenal can take down the enemy before he has a chance to attack us. And give us assurance of faith knowing God has equipped us for the battle ahead.

These Bible Verses about weapons of spiritual warfare show us how to take the fight to the enemy with a great offense. So, let’s learn about the weapons of our warfare and how to put them to use in our spiritual warfare.

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…

                                  2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV

to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

                                      Ephesians 4:12-13 NIV

“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth;
I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.
I will give you the treasures of darkness

These Psalms about Spiritual Warfare will lift you up and help you face the battle head-on!

a God who displays his wrath every day.
If he does not relent,
he will sharpen his sword;
he will bend and string his bow.
He has prepared his deadly weapons;
he makes ready his flaming arrows.

my God, in whom I trust.”

for he sees that his day is coming.

Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,
That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

                               Psalm 64:2-4 New King James Version

The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows

you preserve my life.

with your right hand you save me.
The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.

Bible Verses about Satan

Satan is the father of lies. He’s a ruthless deceiver who will say anything to bring you down. If you’ve ever thought… I’m not good enough, or I can’t do this. Well, that’s the father of lies trying to keep you from God’s perfect plan for your life. And we can’t have that!

I like to think of Satan as Wile E. Coyote from the Looney Tunes cartoon. He’s the one setting the trap and we’re the Roadrunner outsmarting him at every turn.

Yes, I know it’s a silly way of seeing a Christian’s true enemy. But it helps me keep his limited power in perspective. Because here’s the truth Satan doesn’t want you to know… He has no power over you! Jesus has already defeated him, and he knows it!

However, Satan likes to compare himself to Jesus. And he thinks he can be like God. But really, he can only be a cheap imitation of the One True God.

In the following scriptures about Satan, we see the devil likened to a roaring lion. But he is no match for the Lion of Judah. And he aspires to be the Bright Morning Star, but he is simply a fallen angel with a dark future awaiting him.

So, let’s read on and learn more about our adversary, the devil. Then we’ll be able to recognize his spiritual attacks and understand how to defeat this evil foe once and for all!

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

                              Ephesians 6:12 NIV

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

                            1 Peter 5:8 NIV

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

                             1 Peter 5:9 ESV

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

                              James 4:7 NIV

and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

                              Revelation 20:10 ESV

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

                              1 John 4:4 NKJV

They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”

                                Revelation 12:11-12 NIV

If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.

                                Mark 3:25-27 NIV

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

                               Romans 16:20 NKJV

Old Testament Bible Verses about Spiritual Battles

you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their figured stones, destroy all their cast images, and demolish all their high places.

                              Numbers 33:52 New Revised Standard Version

If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars in the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death.

                               Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NIV

Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.

And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!”

                                       Mark 1:23-25 ESV

And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.  Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

                                      Mark 1:26-27 NKJV

But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Life-Changing Bible Verses about the Seasons

Life-Changing Bible Verses about the Seasons

Do you wonder… What does the Bible say about the 4 Seasons? In this Bible Study, we’ll read Life-Changing Bible Verses about the Seasons and discover how God made the four seasons for a purpose. And how they help us navigate each season of life.

God created each season for a purpose.

In each of the four seasons, nature abounds with God’s glory. The beautiful Spring flowers lead us into the warm Summer days. Vibrant fall foliage fades into gently falling snow. These pictures of the beauty of nature remind us of God’s hand working in our lives.

Because each season represents a time in our life as well.

Spring gives us a new beginning. Summer a time to work. Fall a time to reap what we’ve worked so hard for. And Winter a time of much needed rest.

The glory of the Lord is always on display in our lives if we’ll just take a moment to look for it. So, is it any wonder that God’s Word has a lot to say to us about the Seasons?

Let’s dive in and learn the meaning of the seasons and how God meant for them to guide us through life.

Four Seasons in the Bible Meaning

The meaning of the four seasons and how they apply to our everyday lives can be summed up in this Bible verse from the book of Ecclesiastes.

I’m sure you already know this scripture. But it’s popular for a reason.

In it, we learn there is a season for everything. Both in nature and in our lives.

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

                                    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NKJV

Understanding Seasons Biblically

God’s Word uses the seasons as a metaphor for Biblical living.

Whether it’s a beautiful tree planted by streams of water or the stars put in their place, these Bible verses teach us how to live a Christian life for God’s glory!

He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

                                    Psalm 1:3 NKJV

Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.

                                   Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

                                  Daniel 12:3

 So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west
And His glory from the rising of the sun,
For He will come like a rushing stream
Which the wind of the Lord drives.

                                   Isaiah 59:19 NASB

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.

                                  Psalm 90:4

He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.

                                 Proverbs 10:5

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.

                                 James 5:7 ESV

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

                                 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you.

                                 1 Thessalonians 5:1

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

                                 Hebrews 13:8 NLT

She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.

                                  Proverbs 3:18 NIV

God Made the Seasons Bible Verse

Because of God’s love, He created the earth and gave it to us as a beautiful gift. This gift also includes the seasons and their unique way of giving us everything we need to survive while we’re here on earth.

Sometimes we forget about the wonder of this amazing gift of God. But these scriptures remind us why God made the seasons and how He provides for us throughout them.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

                                  Genesis 1:14-19 NKJV

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

                                Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.

                                Psalm 74:17 ESV

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, …

                                 Genesis 2:1-5

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

                               James 1:17 NKJV

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. …

                                Genesis 1:1-5 ESV

 Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, you are very great!
You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
     covering yourself with light as with a garment,
stretching out the heavens like a tent.
He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters;
he makes the clouds his chariot;
he rides on the wings of the wind;
he makes his messengers winds,
his ministers a flaming fire.

 He set the earth on its foundations,
so that it should never be moved.
You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.

                                       Psalm 104:1-6

All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

                                      John 1:3

He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.

                                     Job 26:7

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

                                    Genesis 1:27 NASB

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

                                       Psalm 90:2

They and every beast, according to its kind, and all the livestock according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, according to its kind, and every bird, according to its kind, every winged creature.

                                       Genesis 7:14

And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing.

                                       Ezekiel 34:26

He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills.

                                     Psalm 147:8

Thus says the Lord,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
(The Lord of hosts is His name):

                                  Jeremiah 31:35 NKJV

Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You.”

                                  Psalm 102:25-28 NKJV

Inspirational Bible Verses about Spiritual Seasons of Life

Like everything, our spiritual lives ebb and flow. An easy season of our life turns into a difficult season in the blink of an eye.

But God’ plan for us never changes. He wants to have a close relationship with us in both the good and bad times. And even though the up and downs are hard, these spiritual seasons have a way of bringing us closer to God. I’m sure that’s why He allows them.

But the following scriptures show us God’s great love and help us remember He is with us always.

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood …

                                  Revelation 1:1-5 ESV

Inspirational Bible Verses for Confidence

Are you wondering… What is a good Bible Verse for confidence? In this devotional, we’ll open the Holy Bible and read some Inspirational Bible Verses for Confidence. Each one is a gift from God meant to build us up and strengthen our faith.

Confidence is an area of life we all lack in from time to time.

That’s because we put our confidence in ourselves instead of where it should be, in God.

Self-help books and online gurus lead us down the path of believing we can find value and self-worth on our own.

But for a Christian, confidence is a part of the grace we receive when we believe in Jesus.

We asked Him to save us from our sin knowing we couldn’t save ourselves. And then somehow along the way, we mistakenly thought salvation and confidence were two different things.

They are one and the same. And we’re about to learn how in these Inspirational Bible Verses for Confidence. Each section will reveal a new way for us to feel confident in our faith and surrender our trust to God.

So, let’s read the Word of God together and discover His view on confidence…

Best Bible Verses for Confidence in God

The first step to building confidence is understanding where it comes from.

As Christians, our confidence is different from the rest of the world. We don’t rely on outward things to build us up. Instead, we focus on God’s Word and rely on Him to give us the confidence we so greatly desire.

This assurance of faith gives us more than we could ever hope to achieve on our own. Because God doesn’t withhold any good thing from His people. He is always ready to give us the very best of Himself, and that includes a confident faith that stands the test of time.

The following Bible verses will help you see the great things God has in store for those who put their trust in Him.

Confident Bible Verses about Faith in Jesus

True confidence comes from knowing Jesus and following in His footsteps.

Our faith propels us through the hard times because we know Jesus is there in the middle of the crisis with us. And this confidence strengthens our faith as we lean more and more on it.

The confident Bible Verses about faith below will get you through any hardship. And when it’s over, you’ll see how God used it to strengthen your faith and give you true confidence and peace.

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

                               Philippians 4:7 NKJV

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

                               Matthew 6:34 NIV

This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

                                 1 John 4:17

For the LORD detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.

                                Proverbs 3:32

For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;

                              Philippians 3:3-5

I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

                              1 Corinthians 2:3-5

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such confidence we have through Christ before God.

                               2 Corinthians 3:1-4

Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.

                                 Isaiah 32:17

A Prayer for Confidence

In his letter to the church of the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul offered encouragement and strength the people there.

When I read it today, it sounds so much like a prayer for confidence.

And this scripture on confidence is my sincere prayer for you…

And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.

Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

                              2 Thessalonians 3:4-5 NKJV

May you see the love of God and feel the confidence of knowing Jesus as your Savior in your life today!

Encouraging Bible Verses for Leaders

Are you a church leader looking for inspiration? These Encouraging Bible Verses for Leaders will help you face the responsibilities and obstacles of ministry with grace.

What does the Bible say about leadership?

Church leaders face great responsibility.

We come up against obstacles in our ministry and face the scrutiny of both the church and the outside world every day.

But true leaders face the work of ministry with grace and dignity.

There’s a quote about leadership that always puts me in the right frame of mind…

Ministry is persecution.

I don’t remember where I first heard this quote. But it has stuck with me over the years. It speaks to the leadership qualities we must possess as Christian leaders. The ability to pursue the ministry God has given us, even under pressure.

Because the truth is, if we’re living our lives for Jesus, we will face persecution.

So, how do we do it?

With the truth of God’s Word on our side!

Whatever church leadership position you hold, you’ll find encouragement in these scriptures for strong leaders.

Bible Verses on Service and Leadership

Serving in God’s Kingdom is a privilege. And good leadership means learning to be a servant.

Jesus had a servant’s heart. He came to serve those who needed Him and give His life for ours.

With practice, we can learn to have a servant’s heart like Jesus and be of service to those God puts in our path each day.

Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

                        Proverbs 22:29

“It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

                          Matthew 20:26-28 ESV

With upright heart he shepherded them
and guided them with his skillful hand.

                          Psalm 78:72 ESV

Where there is no guidance, a people falls,
but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

                         Proverbs 11:14 ESV

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

                        Acts 20:28 ESV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

                        Romans 8:28

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.

                       Proverbs 27:23-24

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;

Best Bible Verses about Leadership Qualities

The Holy Bible is clear… spiritual leaders must have certain qualities in order to lead God’s people.

That doesn’t mean that they are without sin but instead chose to live for Jesus and follow His teachings with integrity of heart. Leaders uphold what is holy and reject what isn’t.

The Bible verses below layout the requirements of Biblical leadership and help us become a better leader.

Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

                       1 Timothy 3:2-3 NIV

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

                       1 Timothy 5:8 NIV

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

                         Philippians 2:3 NKJV

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

                         2 Timothy 2:15

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:

                        Psalm 37:5

For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

                         Titus 1:7-9 ESV

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

                         Romans 12:3-8 ESV

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

                         Philippians 2:3-4 ESV

But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

                         Exodus 18:21 NIV

Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

                        Philippians 2:14-15 ESV

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

                       Proverbs 3:7

For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

                      1 Timothy 3:13 NKJV

Bible Verses about Training Leaders

Great leaders teach others to step up and lead. And our common goal should be to train future church leaders to continue the ministry.

These Bible verses about training leaders are a great resource for teaching the next generation to follow the Word of God and become the minister God wants them to be.

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

                                Hebrews 13:7

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.

                              1 Timothy 3:1 NIV

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

                            Jeremiah 1:5

He must become greater; I must become less.”

                           John 3:30

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

                       1 Timothy 4:8

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

                       1 Timothy 4:12

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

                       1 Timothy 5:17 NIV

Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

                        Luke 4:43 ESV

Bible Verses about Leading by Example

Our biggest job is to set a good example of how to live for Jesus.

And the greatest example of leadership we will ever find is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself! He is not only our Savior but also our Teacher.

In scripture, Jesus is called, the Good Shepherd. And this description of Him as a shepherd gently guiding the flock is the perfect example to us as Christian leaders.

We look to Jesus, our Good Shepherd, in all circumstances. And these Bible verses about leadership will teach us a new way of guiding His church and make us strong leaders within it.

 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

                            John 10:11-13 NIV

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

                          Matthew 7:12

Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

                       Mark 10:42-45

When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?

                         John 13:12 ESV

“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

                          John 13:13-17

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,  for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,  but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—  from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

                           Ephesians 4:11-16 NKJV

shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

                         1 Peter 5:2-3 ESV

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

                          Luke 4:18 ESV

Top Bible Verses about Responsibility of Leaders

Being a church leader holds a great deal of responsibility.

When we think of this responsibility, naturally the people we shepherd come to mind. They have life and death decisions weighing on them. We hold their problems close as they lean on us. And we do our absolute best to guide them through it with God’s help.

But these scriptures are a warning to us. The influence we have as leaders means we are held to a higher standard. When we stand at the judgment seat of Christ, we’ll not only answer for the way we conduct ourselves, but also for what we teach other believers.

God has called us to this position in the church. And it’s a wonderful place to be! So, these Bible verses about the responsibility of leaders are not meant to turn us away from serving, but instead to offer us an understanding of what God expects from us.

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

                             James 3:1

Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

                         Luke 12:48 ESV

Being an effective leader is easy when you put God’s Word into practice. And no matter where you serve in the church, I pray these Encouraging Bible Verses for Leaders have given you a new perspective on leadership and the role you play in God’s Kingdom.

Examples of Waiting in the Bible

It can be frustrating when God asks us to wait. We want to forge ahead and get on with it. But God has another plan.

So, here are some great examples of those who waited on the Lord in the Bible.

I pray they will encourage you during your seasons of waiting.

Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.

                                        Mark 15:43

And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

                                         Luke 2:25

he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape.  For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

                                      Esther 4:13-14 NIV

I know how hard it is to wait. I’ve been there many times and it felt like it would never end. But during my seasons of waiting, I found hope in God’s Word and learned more about God’s character than I ever would have on my own.

So, I hope these Encouraging Bible Verses about Waiting on the Lord have helped you see the light at the end of the tunnel. And give you strength as you await the next step of the journey.

If you will wait on the Lord and you will see His perfect plan unfold in your life.

let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

                                       Hebrews 4:14-15

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

                                       Proverbs 13:12 ESV

The Lord bless you
and keep you;
 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.

                                     Numbers 6:24-26 NIV

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.

                                      Job 13:15 NKJV

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”

                                     Hebrews 13:5-6 NIV

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

                                    Romans 5:8 NIV

We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed —  always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

                                   2 Corinthians 4:8-10 NKJV

Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field;
For the open pastures are springing up,
And the tree bears its fruit;
The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

                                     Joel 2:22 NKJV

to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

                                     Ephesians 3:19 NKJV

Thoughts of Peace from our Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus knows we live in a broken world. So, He came to heal our hearts and give us hope for a brighter future and peace in our hearts again.

The peace that Jesus gives is different from anything you will ever experience in the world.

And when you need relief from heartache these thoughts of peace from our Lord Jesus Christ offer a glimpse of undeniable peace that surpasses all understanding.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

                                     John 14:27 NKJV

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

                                      Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

                                     Philippians 4:7 NKJV

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

                                      Isaiah 26:3 NKJV

So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

                                Genesis 8:22 KJV

It will be a unique day—a day known only to the Lord—with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.

Bible Verses about Winter or Snow

Winter is a time to recognize God’s hand in our lives. Just as each snowflake is a unique creation, God made us a unique creation, created in Christ Jesus, for His glory. These snow Bible verses show us a glimpse of God’s glory and the salvation we have in Jesus.

For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
And to the downpour and the rain, ‘Be strong.’
He seals the hand of every man,
That all men may know His work.

                                  Job 37:6-7

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

                                   Isaiah 55:10-11

He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
 He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.

                                 Psalm 147:16-18

Praise the Lord from the earth,
Sea monsters and all deeps;
 Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;

                                Psalm 148:7-8

“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.

                                Isaiah 1:18

And I’m so excited for the holiday season ahead! Because the countdown to Christmas is on! And the excitement of the season is just getting started!

This past weekend my family got our festive on!

We put the Christmas tree up and decorated it with happy wishes for a bright and light holiday. There are even a couple of presents wrapped in festive red and green underneath it already.

The nativity has been lovingly arranged in its place of honor, our buffet table.

The ceramic snowmen from my childhood have found their way to the side tabletops.

The candy canes and chocolate fudge are waiting to be gobbled up.

And Christmas cards are calling my name.

Yes, we are ready and well prepared for the festivities.

But before it all begins, let’s reflect on the most essential part of Christmas…

The Messiah, the Chosen One, the Savior of our souls, Jesus.

In this short devotional, we’ll read some Festive Bible Verses for Christmas. Each one fills my heart with the true meaning of the season, and I pray they will do the same for you.

Plus, they make a beautiful addition for cards. Just choose your favorite Bible Verse for Christmas cards and include their inspiring message along with your heartfelt greetings.

The Christmas Story in the Bible

The birth of Jesus in the Bible is the greatest story ever told! And each year we celebrate this joyous event.

The cute ceramic nativity we set out on our tables represents that story. The story that changed history forever!

The shepherds who came to worship. The wise men who came bearing gifts. The angel announcing the birth of the Savior. The holy family, Mary and Joseph. And most importantly, the Messiah Himself, the baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes and sleeping in the hay.

They all remind us of the Christmas story and the importance it has in our lives every day of the year.

So, let’s read these Christmas story Bible verses and answer the question… What verse is the Christmas story in the Bible?

 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

                                                     Matthew 1:18

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

                                                    Matthew 1:20 NKJV

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

                                                Matthew 1:21 NIV

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

                                                   Luke 2:7 KJV

For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

                                                   Luke 2:11

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

                                                 Luke 2:13-14

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.

                                                Luke 2:15-16 NIV

 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

                                                Matthew 2:9-10 KJV

And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.

                                                Luke 2:33 NKJV

Old Testament Bible Verses about Jesus’ Birth

These encouraging Christmas scriptures are awe-inspiring!

So many years before Christ would come, God gave us a promise of a Savior. To see that promise in black and white should bring tears to our eyes and thankfulness to our hearts every time we read them. Because without this amazing promise, there wouldn’t be a reason to celebrate this glorious season.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.

                                                   Micah 5:2

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

                                             Isaiah 9:6 NKJV

Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

                                             Isaiah 9:7 NKJV

Therefore God, Your God has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

                                              Psalm 45:7

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

                                             Zechariah 9:9

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

                                             Isaiah 7:14

Bible Verses about the Meaning of Christmas

The most precious promise made to us in the Old Testament became the most wonderful Christmas gift we will ever receive. This precious gift came silently on a dark night, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

What an amazing gift to see the Old Testament promise of the Messiah fulfilled in these scriptures!

Not because He said He would come, but because He came to save us and give us a new life in Him.

This is the true meaning of Christmas. Praise Jesus, the greatest Christmas present on our wish list!

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

                                                    2 Corinthians 9:15

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

                                                    John 3:16 KJV

Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

                                                     Acts 5:31

Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

                                                   Luke 15:10

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

                                               John 14:6

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Heartfelt Bible Verses About Love

Heartfelt Bible Verses About Love

Do you wonder… What does God say about showing love? Well, the Bible has a lot to say about love. In fact, there are over 500 verses about love in the Bible. In this short devotional, we’ll read many of them in these Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love and find out exactly what God says about His love for us and how we should love others.

So, let’s get started!

What is love?

Love makes us who we are, it defines us as people. We all want to be loved and to give love back.

We love our family, our friends, and even our pets. And they love us in return.

No matter what, we always return to the ones who love and accept us for who we are. In that sense, love brings us together when everything else tries to tear us apart.

This kind of love is a wonderful thing to have! But the kind of love I’d like to share with you today is Biblical love.

At the very core of Christianity is love. It is the foundation of our faith in Jesus. Love defines who we are in Christ and brings us together as believers.

Because without love there wouldn’t be a pathway to salvation or even a reason to believe.

But praise Jesus! We are loved by God and fully accepted by Him! And most importantly, no matter what may happen, we can always return to God because of love.

What is Biblical love?

Biblical love starts with God, Himself. He is the very definition of love! And His characteristics are a picture of what true love is.

In these scriptures, we’ll discover how God is our soulmate, and how the different kinds of Biblical love impact our lives every day.

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

                                                        1 John 4:16 NKJV

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

                                                       1 John 4:8

Christian Love

These Bible verses show us the hallmarks of Christian love. And it’s true God is each of these things listed below. Because as we just learned, God is love.

But these scriptures also give us a way to recognize true love when we see it. They are the benchmarks we should measure love by.

So, as we read each verse, we can ask ourselves… Is this how I feel? Is this how I am treated, or how I treat others?

All good things to consider when we look at what Christian love is all about.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

                                                     1 Corinthians 13:4-8

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

                                                     1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV

Free Devotional 7 Simple Ways to See God's Hand in Your Life

God’s Love

What is God’s love? These scriptures paint a beautiful picture of our Heavenly Father and the true love He has for each one of us.

So, let’s rejoice and be glad because God loves us! And He showed His love by sending His Son to this earth to save us. And by doing so, God made a way for us to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Jesus Loves You

Just as God the Father loves us, so does the Son.

Jesus gave up His rightful place in heaven, willingly came to earth and freely died in our place. And because Jesus has risen from the grave, we can claim this sacrifice of His love as our own and have eternal salvation in Him.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

                                                John 15:13 ESV

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

                                                Romans 8:35-39

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

                                                John 15:9-10

Love the Lord your God

God has commanded us to love Him.

I know, no one us likes to be commanded to do anything.

But this command is a little different. Because when we follow it, God’s blessing is on us and we receive so much more than we could ever imagine!

So, let’s read these scriptures on love and proclaim, I love you Lord!

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

                                                Deuteronomy 6:5

But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

                                               Joshua 22:5

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

                                              Matthew 22:37-39
