Grateful Bible Verses for Thanksgiving

Grateful Bible Verses for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving means getting together with family and friends, breaking out the good china, cooking copious amounts of delicious food, then shoveling it in and wondering how we’ll ever make it to the Black Friday sales before our top buttons burst.

I’ve been looking at my family photo albums as I tend to do this time of year. And I have to say one thing stands out to me and it’s hilarious! Every single Thanksgiving picture I have shows my family in the very best light… forks raised, cramming food into our faces like it’s our last meal. Not one picture is of us laughing or hugging or telling stories, but you’ll just have to believe me when I say we shared those times too.

When I see these pictures my heart smiles. They bring back the cherishied memories of the wonderful times we spent together.  And they remind me how special each member of my family is. Each of them has a unique part to play in our family and what can I say… I love them!  🥰

Thanksgiving is also a time we set aside to reflect on everything that’s happened over the past year. Mostly we talk about the the good times, maybe even go around the table and say what we’re grateful for. (If you can get it all in before someone faints away from hunger.) But personally, I think it’s okay to talk about all the bad stuff too. Because without those hard times we wouldn’t appreciate the happy ones and the people that made them possible.

As I’ve grown a little older, Thanksgiving has become more than just a day on the calendar. And more than a once a year type of thing.

And the funny thing is… that’s how the Bible sees it too. There are a lot of Bible Verses about thanksgiving. Not the American holiday as we see it today. But instead, a heartfelt gratitude for God and all He has done in our lives.

So, with that in mind, I’d like to share with you some of my favorite Grateful Bible Verses for Thanksgiving. Each one shows God in His very best light… holding us up when we’re down and loving us no matter what. Because He is good, always so good!

I pray these scriptures will fill your heart with thankfulness for all our loving and faithful Heavenly Father has done this past year!

Be blessed and have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

                               Revelation 7:12

Turkey and cranberry sauce. Crescent rolls and pie. Kitchen counters overflowing with yummy food. Tabletops set with the good china. Warm hugs and carefree smiles. These are the pictures that fill my mind when I think of Thanksgiving. They comfort me and make me feel at home.

Do you have a picture in your mind’s eye of Thanksgiving? Is it something close to my crazy family photos? Or is it more subdued and Norman Rockwell like? However you’re celebrating this year I hope you see the goodness of God in your life and all He is doing for you right now. May your heart be filled with  thankfulness this holiday season!

Calming Bible Verses about Peace

Calming Bible Verses about Peace

This post may contain affiliate links. See my full disclosure here.

Do you struggle with worry, fear, or doubt? Do you feel like your life is one catastrophe after another? Do you think peace is something that’s only talked about in church or those feel-good movies on TV?

Yeah… I feel ya!

In our society, peace is a fleeting feeling, here one minute and gone the next. The world tells us we just need a mini vacay, a shopping spree, or a pedicure and then we’ll have the peace we’re after. Believe me, I love a girl’s day out as much as anyone, but these things will only distract us for a short time. Eventually life catches up with us and we’re right back where we started, stressed out and knee deep in chaos.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. A solution to all of the negativity is out there, and it can be yours if you want it.

God gives us peace, real peace. It’s different from the peace the world offers, and it doesn’t cost a dime!

Fear and worry threaten to tear us apart from the inside out. But they don’t stand a chance against God’s peace! It calms the chaos life throws our way. And it slays the beast of worry, fear and doubt.

If we want to find God’s peace all we need to do is turn to the scriptures. So, I decided to put together some Calming Bible Verses about Peace. Once you read them, you’ll understand how God’s peace is the opposite of the world’s. You’ll begin to see His peace take shape in your life. And soon, the struggle of worry, fear, and doubt will fade away as you discover real and lasting peace is only a prayer away.

Let’s dive in, shall we?…

The Peace of Jesus

Jesus is called the Prince of Peace for a reason. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, and Peace itself! When life is anything but peaceful and chaos is the reigning force in our lives… He says “Peace, be still”, and calms the raging storm. This is the peace that only comes from knowing Jesus and you can find it in these verses.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

                                     Isaiah 9:6

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

                                   John 14:27

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

                                John 16:33

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

                                 Philippians 4:6-7

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

                                   Colossians 3:15

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

                                   Mark 4:39

Peace is a Blessing from God

Living a Christian life is full of blessings…Salvation, forgiveness, love, and yes…peace! These next scriptures speak to the peace we find when we put our trust in the Lord.

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

                                   Isaiah 26:3

The Lord will give strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.

                                   Psalm 29:11

Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.

                                  Psalm 119:165

Live in Peace

God blesses us peace, and He asks us to live in peace with others. I know it can seem like we have no control over a peaceful existence with our neighbors, but there are times when we have a choice between stirring up conflict or working towards harmony. In those moments God says to offer an olive branch instead of a curt reply and choose peace over adversity.

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

                                  Romans 12:18

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

                                 Hebrews 12:14

Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.

                                 1 Peter 3:11

Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.

                                  Proverbs 12:20

Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.

                                 Romans 14:19

Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

                                 James 3:18

Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

                                Psalm 34:14

God’s peace comes from knowing Him and seeing His hand move in your life. I truly hope these Calming Bible Verses about Peace have touched your heart and renewed your spirit. Before we go, I’d like to share one last verse. This is my prayer for you today…

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Sunny Bible Verses for Summer

Sunny Bible Verses for Summer

Summer is in full swing, ya’ll! 😊

Golden rays of sunshine fill my heart with a renewed sense of optimism. The shade trees give me a reprieve from the rising temperature and remind me to rest in God’s embrace. Sunglasses and sunscreen are my favorite things right now. I take them with me wherever I go, and they help this very fair-skinned girl survive the scorching season.

While the sun is shining bright, and I’m looking for a cool shady place to rest, God pointed me to a quote from Christian author C. S. Lewis…

“Don’t shine so others can see you, shine so that through you, others can see Him.”

Such wise words to ponder. And truth be told, I’ve kept this quote pinned on the board above my desk for a long time. Too long, because I guess I forgot it was there. But God wanted me to think about it today and I know He wants the same for you too. Because this quote is exactly what our Christian lives are all about, pointing others to Jesus!

So, as summer turns up the heat and we look for new ways to shine for Him… let’s turn the AC up, grab an ice-cold drink, and read some Sunny Bible Verses for Summer!

God’s hand created Summer…

God established the seasons when He created the earth. He made each one for our benefit and He promises they will remain as long as the earth remains.

You have set all the borders of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.

                                        Psalm 74:17

While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat, Winter and summer,
And day and night Shall not cease.

                                     Genesis 8:22

Summer is Near…

The parable of the fig tree is our call to be ready for Christ’s return and to witness to those around us who need Him.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

                                      Matthew 24:32

God is our Sun…

What a wonderful picture, God as sun and shield! He is our light in the darkness and protector from harm. His gifts are good, and He gives them to us freely.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

                               Psalm 84:11

For so the Lord said to me,
“I will take My rest,
And I will look from My dwelling place
Like clear heat in sunshine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

                            Isaiah 18:4

Sun and Moon…

Another gift that comes down from the Father of lights, the sun to shine the way in the daytime and the moon to glow at night. Each of these heavenly bodies speaks to the divine nature of God and the cycle of nature He alone created. These verses paint a picture of God’s sovereign character, reigning over His creation.

Thus says the Lord,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
The Lord of hosts is His name

                              Jeremiah 31:35

The sun and moon stood still in their habitation;
At the light of Your arrows they went,
At the shining of Your glittering spear.

                            Habakkuk 3:11

The earth quakes before them,
The heavens tremble;
The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars diminish their brightness.

                             Joel 2:10

Summer Proverbs…

Proverbs is full of practical wisdom, and these scriptures are common sense at its best. If we follow them, we can’t go wrong in summer or any other season.

He who gathers in summer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

                            Proverbs 10:5

The ants are a people not strong,
Yet they prepare their food in the summer;

                          Proverbs 30:25

Summer heat reflected in our lives…

In our minds, summer is about fun and vacation, but these next two verses are a cautionary tale. As I read them, I’m reminded to fear the Lord and walk in His ways. I don’t want the summer heat to reflect badly in my life, so I chose to learn from the mistakes written here.

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.

                                    Psalm 32:4

Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit.

                                   Amos 8:1

A Little “Sonshine” to bask in today! 😊

I wanted to end on a happy note. And what could possibly be better than the words of our Savior?!

Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

                             Matthew 13:43

The lazy days of Summer are the perfect time to connect with God. So, I pray these Sunny Bible Verses for Summer have refreshed your mind and revived your spirit. Most of all I hope they have helped you see the “Sonshine” in your life! Bask in His love, drink it in and shine bright! Have a wonderful and safe Summer! 😊 And may you see God’s hand in your life now and always!

Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit

Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit

Spring is in full bloom! It’s a beautiful time of renewal in nature. The trees are budding, and the flowers are peeking out. They’ve come to life after a long winter’s rest. Just like them, we’ve been tucked away during the cold winter months and we’re ready to spring to life too. And nothing accompanies the backdrop of spring better than the many scriptures about this glorious event. So, today we’re reading Bible Verses for Spring that will Renew Your Spirit. Together, let’s fill our minds with God’s Word, allow it to take root in our hearts, and renew our tired spirits. In no time at all, we’ll be ready to bloom.

To begin our Spring Bible Verses, I’ve chosen one of my favorites… This scripture isn’t so much about spring, but instead a new thing that God wants to do in our lives. And since spring is about renewal, I thought it was the perfect place to start. I hope it speaks to you the same way it does to me.

Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth:

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

                             Isaiah 43:18-19

 The same sentiment of “spring forth” is echoed again later in Isaiah…

For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

                             Isaiah 61:11

7 Simple Ways to See God's Hand in Your Life by Master's Hand Collection

Spring wouldn’t be spring without flowers. Their vibrant pops of color are a metaphor of the delicate balance between life and death and represent the new life we have in Jesus. So, here’s a short list of the many verses about flowers…

The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come,
And the voice of the turtledove
Is heard in our land.

                              Song of Solomon 2:12

I am the rose of Sharon,
And the lily of the valleys.

Like a lily among thorns,
So is my love among the daughters.

                              Song of Solomon 2:1-2

So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

                             Matthew 6:28-29

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.

                             Isaiah 40:8

As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

 For the wind passes over it, and it is]gone,
And its place remembers it no more.

                             Psalm 103:15-16

He comes forth like a flower and fades away;
He flees like a shadow and does not continue.

                             Job 14:2

Without the spring rain, we wouldn’t have the blessing of brightly colored flowers. Likewise, these scriptures give us a picture of God’s blessings falling on us like rain…

Ask rain from the Lord at the time of the spring rain—

The Lord who makes the storm clouds;
And He will give them showers of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.

                             Zechariah 10:1

In the light of a king’s face is life,
And his favor is like a cloud with the spring rain.

                             Proverbs 16:15

Let my teaching drop as the rain,
My speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb,
And as showers on the grass.

                           Deuteronomy 32:2

Let us know,
Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord.
His going forth is established as the morning;
He will come to us like the rain,
Like the latter and former rain to the earth.

                             Hosea 6:3

They waited for me as for the rain,
And they opened their mouth wide as for the spring rain.

                            Job 29:23

Springtime means fresh growth, not only for the plants for us too. May we rejoice in God’s truth during this season of renewal…

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

                            2 Peter 3:18

Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.

                            1 Chronicles 16:38

As we close out our time together reading Bible Verses that will Renew Your Spirit… This last one is my prayer for myself and for you this spring and always. 😊

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

                               Psalm 51:10

Easter Bible Verses that will inspire you everyday!

Easter Bible Verses that will inspire you everyday

If you have come here looking for inspiring Easter Bible verses, you are in the right place! I pray that these verses will give you encouragement and inspiration as we prepare for this momentous holiday season.

Easter is THE Christian holiday. It represents the most important and fundamental belief of our Christian faith, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Without the resurrection, Christianity would be pointless. But because of it, we have the hope of a future here on earth and in heaven with Him.

It is no small wonder that we are the only world religion that worships a living god. Jesus is alive! He has risen from the grave! Easter is the time we set aside to remember the sacrifice of our loving Savior. So let’s celebrate Him today!

Classic Easter Scriptures…

These verses are perfect for writing in Easter cards, Sunday School lessons, or reading aloud at your Easter dinner and egg hunt.

He is risen! He is not here.

                          Mark 16:6

Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.

                                                    1 Corinthians 15:12-14

He is not here; but has risen! Remember how He spoke to you, when He was still in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.

                                                         Luke 24:6-7

And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say Place of the Skull, they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink.

Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:

They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.

                                                           Matthew 27:33-36

to whom He also presented Himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

                                                             Acts1:3

Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Having said this, He breathed His last. So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”

                                                            Luke 23:45-47

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

                                                           John 19:30

And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them.

                                                            Acts 4:33

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30 #Easter #BibleVersesClick To Tweet

In His Own Words: Jesus spoke about His impending death and resurrection…

There is nothing better than the words of Jesus! You just can’t improve on them. Jesus knew what was going to happen to Him, yet He still chose the cross. And to “hear” His words flow through our lives as we read them is an amazing experience.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

                                                           John 11:25

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

                                                          Matthew 12:40

The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.

                                                          Matthew 17:22

All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:

I will strike the Shepherd,

And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.

But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.

                                                          Matthew 26:31-32

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priest and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again.

                                                           Mark 10:33-34

Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

                                                          John 2:19

Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.

                                                           John 10:17-18

Old Testament Prophecies of Jesus death and resurrection…

These scriptures plainly show how much forethought went into the coming of the Messiah and His sacrifice on the cross. Before time began God was making a way for us to be with Him. He had a plan, a plan to redeem us through His Son.

For me, these verses kick start my faith when I need it the most. When I read them, fear and doubt disappear and all that is left is the peace which surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)

 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,

Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

They divide My garments among them,

And for My clothing they cast lots.

                                                        Psalm 22:16-18

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; and they will look on Me whom they have pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

                                                     Zechariah 12:10

For I know that My Redeemer lives,

And He shall stand at last on the earth;

                                                   Job 19:25

He will swallow up death forever,

And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;

The rebuke of His people

He will take away from all the earth;

For the Lord has spoken.

                                                 Isaiah 25:8

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

                                                Isaiah 53:5-6

God planned the death and resurrection of Christ very carefully. Each intricate detail thought out and painstakingly put into place so that we could have complete confidence in our faith and salvation. Because of Jesus’s death, we have forgiveness of sin. Because of His resurrection, we have eternal life in Him. Praise the Lord, we serve a Risen and Living Savior!

More Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love

More Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love

LOVE. Most of us are searching for it in some aspect of our lives. And it seems to hold so much power over us. Without love, we feel empty, like there’s a gaping hole in our chest. With it, we feel the exact opposite, happy, fulfilled, even giddy like we’re dancing on air.

In our quest for love what we’re really after is unconditional love. A love that doesn’t care if we’re having an off day. You know the one I’m talking about, flat hair, jeans that won’t fit, nothing goes right. We all have bad days, but when we know we’re loved it’s easy to laugh them off. This is the love God meant for us to have all along, not just with other people but with Him.

Last week we looked at several Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love, if you missed it you can read them here. As we discussed then, love is the foundation of our Christian faith. It defines who we are in Jesus and brings us together as the body of Christ.

Love is the reason God the Father sent Jesus the Son to die on the cross in our place and the reason He did so willingly. Without their love, we wouldn’t have the hope of salvation. But because of their love, we can have confidence in our faith and know our future in heaven is secure.

Today, I’d like to share with you More Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love. This time we’ll closely examine how God’s love extends outwardly toward us. His love is faithful, steadfast, loyal and unconditional. And because God loved us first, we can experience love for ourselves and love Him in return.

These truths about God’s love will become clear as you read the scriptures. So, let’s jump in and allow them to reveal God’s unconditional love.

God’s Love for us

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

                                                Jeremiah 31:3

I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

                                              Hosea 2:19-20

God, your God, is God indeed, a God you can depend upon. He keeps his covenant of loyal love with those who love him and observe his commandments for a thousand generations.

Christ’s Love for Us

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

                                          Galatians 2:20

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

                                         Ephesians 5:25

Our Love for God

I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

 A Heartfelt Cry to See God’s Love

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.

                                           Psalm 143:8

We’ve covered many of the Heartfelt Bible Verses about Love in these two posts, but there are still many more. I encourage you to look them up and be blessed by the truth they contain.

This last verse from Psalm 143 is a cry to God to see His unconditional love in action. And it’s a call to trust Him when we need guidance. This is the verse that really spoke to my heart today. Please leave a comment and let me know which one God used to speak to you.

One final thought I’d like to share, if you’re searching for love in your life, God loves you with unconditional and unwavering love! No matter who you are or what you do, nothing will ever separate you from His love! This is my sincere prayer for you… Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. (Jude 2)

More Inspiring Bible Verses about God's Hands

This post may contain affiliate links. See my full disclosure here.

Last week we looked at some Inspiring Bible verses about God’s Hands. There are so many, honestly, it was hard for me to pick just a few. So, this week I’d like to share More Inspiring Bible Verses about God’s Hands.

As we talked about then, hands are a constant in my life. They play an important part in my artwork. Each piece begins with a word that reminds me of who God is. From there I place pictures of hands into the art to spell out that unique word in American sign language. Without these pictures, my art wouldn’t exist.

And these pictures wouldn’t exist without the person posing for them. They’re my father’s hands and that makes them extra special to me. Plus, he thinks it’s kinda funny being a hand model. 😊  He didn’t see that one coming.

My father’s hands have done so many things for me over the years. When I was young, his hand took mine as we walked down the sidewalk together, keeping me close and protected. Later, his hands held me up and kept my head above water while I learned to swim in my grandparent’s backyard pool. During the terrible teen years, his hand grabbed the steering wheel and kept me from veering into oncoming traffic as he taught me how to drive. (Whew, thanks for that one, Dad!) And now as an adult, his hands are still there guiding me. Hey, they’re even in my artwork! If you asked him about these things, he’d say he was just doing what dads do, loving and supporting their kids as they make their way through life.

Yes, A father’s hands do so many things. And our Heavenly Father’s hands are no different. In times of trouble, God’s hands take care of us and give us shelter. When we feel down, defeated or all alone, they comfort us. When we don’t know what comes next, they mold and shape us into our future selves. And when we feel weak, they offer us the strength to keep going. Why? Because that’s what our loving Heavenly Father does. His hands are there for us through all of life ups and downs. Nothing is too big for Him to handle. And nothing is too small for Him to notice.

As you read these verses, look closing at what God has to say to you. Can you see His hands in your life? I hope so. And I pray that you will find comfort and encouragement in God’s hands today.

God’s hands take care of us

And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword;
In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me,
And made Me a polished shaft;
In His quiver He has hidden Me.”

                              Isaiah 49:2

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Festive Bible Verses for Christmas

Festive Bible Verses for Christmas

I’m so excited for the Christmas season! And this past weekend my family got our festive on!

The tree is up and decorated, there are even a couple of presents wrapped underneath it.

The nativity has been lovingly arranged in its place of honor, our buffet table.

The ceramic snowmen from my childhood have found their way to the side tabletops.

The candy canes and chocolate are waiting to be gobbled up.

And Christmas cards are calling my name.

Yes, we are ready and well prepared for the festivities.

But before it all begins, let’s reflect on the most essential part of Christmas, the Messiah, the Chosen One, the Savior of our souls, Jesus. These Festive Bible Verses for Christmas always fill my heart with the true meaning of the season and I pray that they will do the same for you.

Old Testament Promises of the Messiah

There’s something about these scriptures that hits me deeply. So many years before Christ would come, God gave us His promise of a Savior. To see that promise in black and white brings tears to my eyes and thankfulness to my heart every time I read them.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.

                                                   Micah 5:2

And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.

                                                 Isaiah 9:6-7

Therefore God, Your God has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

                                              Psalm 45:7

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

                                             Zechariah 9:9

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

                                             Isaiah 7:14

A Promise Made and a Promise Keep in the New Testament

The most wonderful Christmas gift we will ever receive came silently on a dark night, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. What an amazing gift to see the promise of the Messiah fulfilled in these scriptures! Not that He came as He said He would, but because He came to save us and give us new life. Praise for the greatest gift!

For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

                                                   Luke 2:11

And she will bring forth a son, and you will call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.

                                                  Matthew 1:21

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

                                                 Luke 2:13-14

Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

                                                     Acts 5:31

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

                                                    2 Corinthians 9:15

Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

                                                   Luke 15:10

 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

                                               John 14:6

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

                                               Luke 19:10

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.

                                             Colossians 2:9

In the Psalms

The Psalms are always the perfect place to find inspiration. Their cries of praise and thanksgiving for a loving God start off our fall Bible verses.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

                                      Psalm 100:4

In the words of Jesus

There is nothing more powerful than the words of Jesus! And His assessment of the fall season gives us a great lesson in what it means to be a witness all year round.

Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.

                                   John 4:34

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

                                 Matthew 9:37

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.

                                  John 4:35

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

                               John 12:24

For the Season

These scriptures are favorites for a reason. They speak to the honest truth of the season and help us focus our minds on what is truly important this time of year.

in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

                               1 Thessalonians 5:18

And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

                                 James 3:18

They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots;

                                 Jude 12

‘They do not say in their heart,
“Let us now fear the Lord our God,
Who gives rain in its season,
Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,
Who keeps for us
The appointed weeks of the harvest.”

                               Jeremiah 5:24

I hope these Heartwarming Bible Verses for Fall have blessed you and inspired you for the season ahead. Happy Fall!

Heartfelt Bible Verses About Love

Love makes us who we are, it defines us as people. We all want to be loved and to give love. We love our family, our friends and even our pets. And they love us back. No matter what, we always return to the ones who love us and accept us for who we are. In that sense, love brings us together when everything else tries to tear us apart. This kind of love is a wonderful thing to have!

But the kind of love I’d like to share with you today is Biblical love. At the very core of Christianity is love. It is the foundation of our faith in Jesus. Love defines who we are in Christ and brings us together as believers. Without love there wouldn’t be a pathway to salvation or even a reason to believe. But praise Jesus! We are loved by God and fully accepted by Him! And most importantly, no matter what may happen, we can always return to Him because of love.

So, together let’s look at these heartfelt Bible Verses about love and discover how the different kinds of Biblical love impact our lives.

What is Biblical love?

Biblical love starts with God, Himself. He is the very definition of love! And His every characteristic is a picture of what true love is.

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

                                                        1 John 4:16

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

                                                       1 John 4:8

The Hallmarks of Christian Love

These verses are the hallmarks of Christian love. And it is true that God is each of these things listed below. But these scriptures also give us a way to recognize real love when we see it. They are the benchmarks that we should measure love by. So as we read them we can ask ourselves… Is this how I feel? Is this how I am treated or how I treat others? All good things to consider when we look at what Christian love is all about.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

 Love never fails.

                                                        1 Corinthians 13:4-8

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

                                                        1 Corinthians 13:13

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is #love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 #BibleVersesClick To Tweet

God’s love for us

God loves us! And He showed His love by sending His Son to save us. And by doing so, made a way for us to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

                                                         1 John 4:9-10

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

                                                         John 3:16

The love of Jesus for us

Just as God the Father loves us, so does the Son. Jesus gave up His rightful place in heaven, willing came to earth and freely died in our place. And because Jesus has risen from the grave we can claim this sacrifice of His love as our own and have eternal salvation in Him.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

                                                        John 15:13

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

                                                       Romans 8:35-39

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

                                                        John 15:9-10

A Command to love the Lord your God

God has commanded us to love Him. I know, none us likes to be commanded to do anything. But when we follow this commandment, God’s blessing is on us and we receive so much more than we could ever imagine!

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

                                                     Deuteronomy 6:5

But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

                                                    Joshua 22:5

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

                                                  Matthew 22:37-39

A New Commandment to love one another

We all need the love of Jesus. So, if we are truly His followers, then it makes perfect sense that we should show the love of Jesus to everyone around us. And as these next scriptures attest to, Jesus has given us a new commandment to do just that. And if we love Jesus, we will obey Him and show an unsaved world who He is through love.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

                                                     John 13:34-35

If you love Me, keep My commandments.

                                                    John 14:15

Beloved let us love one another, for love is of God.

                                                     1 John 4:7

Beloved let us #love one another, for love is of God. 1 John 4:7 #BibleVersesClick To Tweet

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

                                                    1 John 4:11

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

                                                    1 Peter 4:8

We have barely scratched the surface of all that the Word of God has to say on the subject of love. But I pray that these heartfelt Bible verses about love have encouraged you to seek the love of Jesus in your life and to show His love to everyone you meet. His love is the greatest gift that any of us could ever receive. And the greatest gift that we could possibly give to so many around us. May your faith be strengthened by His love and grace always!

12 Uplifting Bible Verses for Faith in Hard Times

12 Uplifting Bible Verses for Faith in Hard Times

Life is hard! Really hard. And some days are tough to get through. Maybe it’s the little things that add up and drive us crazy or maybe we’re facing much bigger problems in life. Either way we can take comfort in God’s promises. He is faithful! And His word provides comfort anytime we need it. No matter what you’re going through, I truly hope that these 12 uplifting Bible verses for faith in hard times will give you the strength to carry on.

The substance of our faith keeps us going in hard times.

We may not be able to see faith with our eyes, but just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t real. We believe in gravity, yet we can’t see it. But we know that gravity is real and exists because we feel it and experience for ourselves. Likewise, we know our faith in Jesus is real because we feel it in our heart and experience it our daily lives. This is the substance of our faith and the hope that is within us. It is the reality that we have Jesus and He has us. If we truly believe in Jesus, then we have the assurance of our faith because we “see” it in our lives. These two verses speak directly to this kind of “blind faith”.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 #BibleVerses #FaithClick To Tweet

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

                                                                Hebrews 11:1

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

                                                            2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Our faith is a firm place to stand when we are scared.

It’s so easy to be discouraged and feel defeated when things don’t go our way. We become scared of what tomorrow will bring and wonder if it will ever get better. But our faith in Jesus is our security and firm place to stand. When our faith is shaken, and life tries to tear us down, Jesus gives us strength and bravery. So stand fast in the faith and be strengthened by the One who died to set us free. Run to Him and find safety and unshakable ground.

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

                                                            1 Corinthians 16:13

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

                                                            Proverbs 18:10

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.

                                                            Deuteronomy 31:8

Comfort in the Psalms

The book Psalms is full of wonderful descriptions of God’s protection and love for us. In fact there are too many to list here, so I encourage you to seek out these comforting scriptures for yourself. To get you started here are two of my favorites. They always give me comfort and inspiration when I’m feeling knocked down. I hope that they will lift you up and give you comfort as well.

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

                                                 Psalm 46:1-5; 10

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.

Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

                                                Psalm 27:13-14

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:1-5; 10 #Psalm #BibleVersesClick To Tweet

There is no doubt that hard-ships will come in life, but with Jesus we have victory!

Hard times seem to sneak up and hit us out of nowhere. When we least expect them they show up like an uninvited party guest who just won’t leave. But the Bible tells us that we should expect hard-ships in this life and that we should find joy in it. I know what you’re thinking, because I’m thinking it too. How can we possibly find joy in suffering? Well, it all goes back to Jesus. He suffered for us and He promised that we would suffer for His namesake. But we shouldn’t let it get us down, because even though we are participants in the suffering of Christ, we are also participants in His victory too! Because of Jesus our current circumstances will fade away in the light of eternity. We are victorious over this world and the hard-ships we face! And it’s all because of Jesus and His glory!

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

                                                            James 1:2-4

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

                                                            1 Peter 4:12-13

 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-

                                                             2 Corinthians 4:8-9

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

                                                             1 Peter 1:6-9

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

                                                             1 Corinthians 15:57

Each of these 12 uplifting Bible verses for faith in hard times reminds us of God’s faithfulness. Yes, we face tough times in life. But God’s promises are always true. He is with us. He is for us. And He will never leave us alone in our despair. With God all things are possible. Even faith in hard times. So take heart, the Lord is with you. Keep the faith and claim the victory in Jesus name!
