Bible Verses for the Fourth of July to Set You Free

The Good News of Salvation is found in these patriotic Bible Verses for the Fourth of July to Set You Free. I pray they will inspire you during this July 4th holiday.

We are so blessed to call the United States of America home. And we celebrate our independence big!

Backyard barbecues with plates dripping with sauce, ice cream cones melting in the summer heat, and brilliant fireworks displays as far as the eye can see. Fun is the name of the game. But the meaning of this patriotic holiday is bigger than the celebration.

Our freedom came at a cost. Liberty was a hard-fought victory. And the battle to keep it continues even now.

Many of us have loved ones on the front lines and we salute them this Fourth of July. Their courage and commitment to the USA fills our hearts with pride. And we know it’s because of their bravery, we live freely.

So, with the American flag waving in the background, we honor the men and women in uniform both past and present who fought to make us free.

And I think we can all agree that the freedom we enjoy as American citizens is unlike any other place on earth!

But there is another reason to celebrate this time of year.

Independence Day is also a wonderful time to reflect on a different kind of freedom we enjoy.

As Christians, we have liberty in knowing Jesus as our Savior. Because of His sacrifice, we are free from the wages of sin! And we have victory over death!

Yes, true freedom comes from knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior. Through Him, we have forgiveness of sin and complete spiritual freedom!

Once you are a part of the family of God, everything else fades into the night, just like the fireworks in the sky.

By the grace of God, we have been set free!

So, to celebrate the birth of our great nation, all she has to offer, and the perfect gift of salvation in Jesus, I’ve put together a collection of Bible Verses for the Fourth of July to Set You Free.

These uplifting scriptures offer a glimpse of the hope in store for us if we, as a nation turn to God. Each one is a gift God has given us as His children. And a reminder of what Christ has done to set us free!

I pray they will help you see God’s hand reaching out to you as we gear up for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

Get your flag out, it’s gonna be epic!

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

                                            Isaiah 61:1 NKJV

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

                                            Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV

Inspirational New Testament Fourth of July Bible Verses

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

                                                 1 Peter 2:15-17

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

                                              1 Peter 2:9 NIV

Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

One Nation Under God Bible Verses

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,

for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,  who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

                                              1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,

                                              Titus 3:4-6 NIV

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,  who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

                                            Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

                                              Romans 13:1 NKJV

For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

                                             Romans 8:3-4 NASB

As we can see, real freedom comes from the holy name of Jesus Christ and the salvation we find in Him.

My prayer is that you will know Him more and more through the words in the Holy Bible. And that you will celebrate your faith and declare “One Nation Under God” during this fourth of July holiday!

Now I’m off to hang out my American flag and grill some burgers.

Have a Happy 4th of July! May God bless America!
