Sunny Bible Verses for Summer

The Summer season is when we think of relaxing and enjoying some downtime. But God’s Word has a lot to say to us about this season. So, in this devotional, we’ll read some Sunny Bible Verses for Summer and discover all God has to say to us this time of year.

These Summer scriptures are perfect for memorization, cute Sunday school lessons, or personal devotion.

Summer is in full swing, ya’ll! 😊

Golden rays of sunshine fill my heart with a renewed sense of optimism. The shade trees give me a reprieve from the rising temperature and remind me to rest in God’s embrace. Sunglasses and sunscreen are my favorite things right now. I take them with me wherever I go, and they help this very fair-skinned girl survive the scorching season.

While the sun is shining bright, and I’m looking for a cool shady place to rest, God pointed me to a quote from Christian author C. S. Lewis…

“Don’t shine so others can see you, shine so that through you, others can see Him.”

Such wise words to ponder. And truth be told, I’ve kept this quote pinned on the board above my desk for a long time. Too long, because I guess I forgot it was there. But God wanted me to think about it today and I know He wants the same for you too. Because this quote is exactly what our Christian lives are all about, pointing others to Jesus!

So, as summer turns up the heat and we look for new ways to shine for Him… let’s turn the AC up, grab an ice-cold drink, and read some Sunny Bible Verses for Summer!

God’s hand created Summer

God established the seasons when He created the earth. He made each one for our benefit and He promises they will remain as long as the earth remains.

You have set all the borders of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.

                                        Psalm 74:17

While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat, Winter and summer,
And day and night Shall not cease.

                                      Genesis 8:22

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

                                    Genesis 8:22 KJV

Summer is Near

The parable of the fig tree is our call to be ready for Christ’s return and to witness to those around us who need Him.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

                                      Matthew 24:32

and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley, will be like a first-ripe fig before the summer: when someone sees it, he swallows it as soon as it is in his hand.

                                    Isaiah 28:4 ESV

God is our Sun

What a wonderful picture, God as a sun and shield! He is our light in the darkness and protector from harm. His gives good gifts, and He gives them to us freely.

In these Bible verses about sunshine, we’ll see how God illuminates the earth for us.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

                               Psalm 84:11

For so the Lord said to me,
“I will take My rest,
And I will look from My dwelling place
Like clear heat in sunshine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

                            Isaiah 18:4

Summer Time verses about the Sun and Moon

Another gift that comes down from the Father of lights, the sun to shine the way in daytime and the moon to glow at night. Each of these heavenly bodies speaks to the divine nature of God and the cycle of nature He alone created. These verses paint a picture of God’s sovereign character, reigning over His creation.

Thus says the Lord,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
The Lord of hosts is His name

                              Jeremiah 31:35

The sun and moon stood still in their habitation;
At the light of Your arrows they went,
At the shining of Your glittering spear.

                            Habakkuk 3:11

The earth quakes before them,
The heavens tremble;
The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars diminish their brightness.

                              Joel 2:10

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

                             James 1:17 New International Version

and gathers her food in harvest.

Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.

They shall all of them be left to the birds of prey of the mountains and to the beasts of the earth. And the birds of prey will summer on them, and all the beasts of the earth will winter on them.

Bible Verses about Summer Fruit

The blessings of God are the meaning behind these next Bible verses about Summer fruit.

When we walk with God and follow His will for our lives, God’s blessings are as abundant as the growing season in summer.

But when we go our own way, God removes His blessings and draws us back to Himself.

I pray they will help you the next time you feel far from God and His blessings.
