In this devotional, we’re celebrating the strength of our relationship with both our Heavenly Father and earthly Dad with these Strong Bible Verses for Father’s Day!
Father’s Day is the time we set aside to honor the man we call Dad. His strength and encouragement are paramount in our lives. And no matter how old we get, he’s the one we turn to for wisdom and guidance.
The relationship between a father and child is the mirror image of a Christian’s connection with God the Father. It is meant to be close, personal, and lifelong.
In my life, my dad has always been faithful to point me to Jesus and guide me to His truth. This source of unwavering strength has given me the resolve to push past the hard times and move forward in faith even when it seemed impossible. What a blessing it is to have a strong father who loves the Lord!
Plus, my dad and I have so many things in common. We love antiques and shopping for them together. We love old black and white movies, especially if they have Cary Grant in them. And we may not love it, but we work pretty well as a team on home repair projects.
So, as Father’s Day approaches, I wanted to share some Strong Bible Verses for Father’s Day. I hope they’ll encourage you as you think back on all the wonderful things your father has done over the years. And give you some inspiration in your relationship with him going forward.
Additionally, they are the perfect addition to your Father’s Day card!
Let’s jump right into these scriptures about Father’s Day…
Bible Verses about a Father’s Blessings
The father of a righteous child has great joy;
a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.
The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him.
Proverbs 20:7
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5
Children’s children are the crown of old men,
And the glory of children is their father.
The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.

Do not eat it, so that it may go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord.

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
Psalm 127:4 New International Version
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
3 John 1:4 NKJV
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands.
Their children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
and their righteousness endures forever.

For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.

Father’s Day Bible Verses about Honoring Your Parents
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
Ephesians 6:1-3
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:12
Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Deuteronomy 5:16
For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
Matthew 15:4-6
Father’s Day Bible Verses about Listening to Your Father
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.

My son, keep your father’s command
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Bind them always on your heart;
fasten them around your neck.

when you awake, they will speak to you.

When I was a son with my father,
tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,
he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
keep my commandments, and live.’
I have instructed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths.
Father’s Day Bible Verses about Discipline
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction;
For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?

And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
Malachi 4:6 NKJV
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.
Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

I chose him to represent the hand of God because of the close relationship we have and his strong faith in Jesus Christ. And he thinks it’s kinda funny being a hand model. I guess that wasn’t on his bucket list.
