Golden Bible Verses for St. Patrick's Day

Today let’s read some Golden Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day and discover the true meaning of this fun holiday.

For most of us, St. Patrick’s Day is a time for family and friends to gather in celebration of all things Irish (and in case you don’t already know… everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day).

During this joyful holiday, lucky four-leaf clovers dance in our heads as we dream of tiny green leprechauns leading us to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

And who doesn’t want a pot of gold to call their own? It’s fun to think of wealth beyond our wildest imagination, isn’t it? But the legend of the leprechaun is meant to be a warning against the greed that lurks within our hearts.

Yes, silly green leprechauns are only a myth, but our love of money is very real. And it’s usually the thing that gets us twisted up inside and pushes us away from having a close relationship with God.

The Bible tells us God examines our hearts. He tests it to see what is inside. Because it’s what’s in our heart that truly matters to God. He doesn’t care if we have that imaginary pot of gold or a huge bank account. He only cares that we know His Son Jesus Christ and the radiant love He offers.

So, today we’re gonna look at some “Golden” Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day.

We’ll start with the “Golden Rule”, the thing we think of most when we “hear” the word golden. Then we’ll read some scriptures that will help us examine our heart and what is inside of it. And end with some wonderful verses to remind us of the goodness of God and His provision.

Let’s get started…

The Golden Rule

And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

                                                      Luke 6:31 NKJV

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…

 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

                                                   Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,
But the Lord tests the hearts.

                                                   Proverbs 17:3

He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.

                                                  Malachi 3:3

Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold;

                                                 Proverbs 8:10

I will bring the one-third through the fire,
Will refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them.
I will say, ‘This is My people’;
And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’

                                                 Zechariah 13:9

Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

                                                    James 5:3

Do not trust in oppression,
Nor vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase,
Do not set your heart on them.

                                                  Psalm 62:10

Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful.

                                                 Colossians 3:15

Remember the Lord your God

Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.

                                                 Isaiah 60:5

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

                                                  Deuteronomy 8:18

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

                                                   Isaiah 61:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

                                                  Malachi 3:10

I truly hope these “Golden” Bible Verses for St. Patrick’s Day have blessed you! And I’ll leave you with this thoughtful quote from St. Patrick himself. May it serve to remind us all to put Christ first in our hearts and in our lives!

“Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.”
